Pantone™ PMS 7456 C

PMS 7456 C references the Pantone color standard, which communicates only the target color and does not define the existing product's sheen, application process, or substrate. Because sheen and substrate affect perceived color, using PMS 7456 C as a touch-up guideline often results in visible differences between new paint and the original finish. For this reason, Pantone PMS codes like PMS 7456 C should not be used to specify color for touch-up or repair on pre-existing surfaces.

The sheen you choose for PMS 7456 C can affect its apparent brightness and chroma. Glossy finishes may make the color appear deeper and more vivid, while matte finishes can mute the color. Consider viewing distance, lighting conditions, and substrate. For high-traffic or up-close installations, higher sheens can be easier to clean but more reflective. Always review physical samples of PMS 7456 C in the actual application context before making final decisions on sheen.

For pop-ups and retail uses of PMS 7456 C, assess the durability of the selected finish to handle expected traffic and cleaning needs. Lighting in these spaces can significantly affect how the blue-violet character of PMS 7456 C is perceived, so always evaluate the color on your chosen substrate under actual lighting before large-scale use. Sampling is strongly recommended to ensure the final result supports your intended brand experience.

Ordering a standard PMS 7456 C match is appropriate for displays, signage, prototypes, and other marketing applications where matching the Pantone color reference is a brand requirement. This approach is best when the visual standard is the Pantone code and not an existing product, and when consistent brand appearance across multiple materials or locations is more important than matching a specific substrate or previous coating.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
