FAQs about Custom Spray Paint Colors

How much spray paint do I need?
Spray paint is difficult to gauge because the amount of spray paint used is highly variable and dependent on how it is applied and the amount of overspray you generate. The number of spray paint cans needed will depend on the overall square footage of the surface you need to cover, the amount of paint in each spray can, and the number of coats you need to apply. You can utilize our paint calculator to get a better idea how much paint you may need.
Can I buy just one can of spray paint?
We do not have minimum quantity with our orders. However, please note that a standard-sized spray can will cover about 20 square feet per coat, but this depends on how thickly the paint is applied and the amount of overspray. It doesn't hurt to have an extra can or two to ensure you enough paint on hand to complete your project. You can always get more, but it will interrupt your project and there may be slight variation in color due to batch differences.
How fast will I receive my custom spray paint?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for custom spray paint can be a little longer, typically taking 3-5 business days to produce. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can any color be made in spray paint?
Yes, we specialize in exact match paint color solutions. We have a database of over 250,000 colors that have been previously matched, and for those customers who have a unique product, color or material that they need to be converted into the perfect paint color (or who need a sheen/finish matched on a known color), we also offer a variety of custom color matching services. How do I repair scratched powder coating?
There are several ways to repair a scratched powder coating. In a case of severe damage, the part may need to be completely stripped and re-powder coated. Some types of powder coatings allow repainted finish to go over a previously painted part with no prep work but this is not always possible and the repainted area most likely will not be as durable. Some very minor scratches may be removed via buffing. You can also use liquid touch-up paint. This is MyPerfectColor’s specialty as we will precisely match both the color and sheen of the powder coat so you can repair the damage. The liquid coating isn’t as durable as the original powder coatings, but we use a strong acrylic enamel designed to dry fast and hard and stick very well to powder coatings. What sheens are available for spray paint?
MyPerfectColor offers spray paint in 5 different sheens ranging from flat to gloss, so you can choose the gloss level best suited to your project. If you only see "custom" as the only sheen option, that means MyPerfectColor is offering the sheen that matching the original product. Learn more about sheens.
What type of paint is spray paint?
Normally spray paint is made with a fast-drying solvent paint so that the paint begins to set up right away. This not only minimizes dripping but also lets you finish your project more quickly. These solvent-based spray paints also atomize very well and enable you to achieve a professional-looking finish. Make sure the spray paint you choose is durable and suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a very quality coating that sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets, and primed or previously painted wood.
