PMS 7614 C is part of the Pantone PMS collection, engineered for exact color standards in branding and visual specification. It conveys a grounded, muted, and approachable vibe with warm and earthy qualities, offering a subdued presence without sacrificing character. PMS 7614 C is often described as practical, understated, and stable, making it suitable for visual systems that require a reassuring yet contemporary tone.

PMS 7614 C is moderately dark, with a measured LRV of 24.23 that ensures good visibility while maintaining a rich appearance. The color is distinctly warm, leaning toward brownish-red with an earthy undertone. PMS 7614 C displays low to moderate chroma, giving it muted, less saturated qualities that minimize visual loudness. The color exhibits noticeable brown and red undertones, contributing to its sense of warmth and approachability. PMS 7614 C may show subtle shifts depending on finish; matte finishes emphasize its muted character, while gloss finishes can intensify its brown-red elements.

PMS 7614 C is operationally effective in branding environments where a grounded, reliable, and less saturated red-brown is specified. It is advisable to evaluate PMS 7614 C under intended lighting and finish, as warm, muted browns can appear flatter in low light or become richer in gloss. Consistency with Pantone standards matters most on large surfaces or when color is a key branding identifier; validate with real samples on the target substrate. Compared to other options, PMS 7614 C is less vibrant and more subdued, minimizing visual noise and providing a stable, modern impression.

PMS 7524 C – Warmer and more vibrant, with stronger red undertones and higher perceived chromaticity.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7614 C

How closely will PMS 7614 C paint match the PMS 7614 C color swatch in my Pantone book?

The PMS 7614 C color in a Pantone guide is a printed reference standard. When you order PMS 7614 C paint, the appearance can differ due to the specific substrate, sheen, and application method used. Finishes like gloss or matte may shift how warm or muted PMS 7614 C appears compared to the book sample. For best results, evaluate the painted color sample under your project lighting and on the intended material before making final decisions.

What should I consider when applying PMS 7614 C to metal or powder-coated surfaces?

When using PMS 7614 C on metal or powder-coated parts, proper surface preparation is important. Clean and lightly scuff the substrate to help with adhesion. Gloss level and any existing coating can cause PMS 7614 C to look lighter or darker than expected. Always sample PMS 7614 C on the actual material and finish you plan to use for your project to confirm the visual outcome before starting any large-scale work.

Why is PMS 7614 C commonly used as a brand standard in sign and exhibit fabrication?

PMS 7614 C is often specified for signage, display, and exhibit elements because Pantone codes provide a clear color target across multiple vendors and materials. Using PMS 7614 C supports brand consistency when visual appearance is a key requirement. Since the final result can vary by substrate and finish, sample the color on your actual material to meet expectations for your branded environment or display project.

If I need an exact match for PMS 7614 C for repairing a specific item, should I rely on the Pantone code?

The Pantone code PMS 7614 C is intended for brand color reproduction and visual consistency, not for repair or exact touch-up of existing finishes. Substrate, finish, and original formulation can all affect appearance. If you need a precise match for a specific item or repair scenario, send a physical sample from your project to have a custom match made. This ensures the best fit for your repair needs instead of relying solely on the Pantone specification.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7614 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
