PMS 7524 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection. It is recognized for its warm, natural vibe with pronounced red and clay-brown influences, giving it a grounded, approachable, and slightly muted appearance. This color is commonly characterized as earthy, stable, and versatile, with a visual weight that supports both accent and background usage in brand, architectural, and marketing settings.

PMS 7524 C presents as a medium-dark color, with a relatively low LRV (16.02) giving it notable depth. The color conveys a warm tendency, showing strong red and muted brown influences. It displays moderate to strong saturation, delivering visual richness without harsh intensity. Undertones are earthy and reddish, producing a grounded, terracotta-like effect. The color's appearance is moderately sensitive to finish, with gloss increasing perceived vibrancy and matte finishes emphasizing its muted, natural quality.

PMS 7524 C works particularly well in branding applications that require a welcoming, robust, or natural tone, such as retail fixtures, signage, and marketing environments that seek to invoke warmth without veering into bright primary territory. Take note that this color's relative depth means lighting has a strong effect on how muted or vibrant it appears; under cool or low light, it may appear more brown, while warm or direct light will enhance its red aspects. When specifying this color, choose the substrate and finish carefully to support the intended brand vibe and maintain consistency across materials—especially near other reds or browns, where minor differences can become pronounced.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7524 C

How do lighting and viewing conditions affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 7524 C?

The way Pantone PMS 7524 C looks can shift noticeably depending on lighting conditions. Under warm or direct light, the red tones in PMS 7524 C may appear stronger and more vibrant, while cool or low lighting can make the color appear more muted or brown. For brand and display use, always evaluate PMS 7524 C under the lights in which it will be seen, as this will help you confirm that the finished look aligns with your project''s requirements. Viewing angle and finish (matte or gloss) can also affect perception, so it is best to review a sample in the final setting before approval.

When is a primer needed for Pantone PMS 7524 C paint applications?

Whether you need a primer for PMS 7524 C depends on the substrate, paint type, and project requirements. For new, uncoated, porous, or uneven surfaces, priming is often critical to ensure good adhesion and consistent color appearance. Highly saturated colors such as PMS 7524 C may also benefit from a primer to prevent uneven coverage or show-through, especially over contrasting backgrounds. For guidance specific to your substrate and paint format, refer to the product''s technical data or consult primer recommendations before starting.

What is the difference between Pantone PMS 7524 C''s name and its code, and how should I order to ensure accuracy?

When ordering paint or finishes for PMS 7524 C, always use the full Pantone code, not just the color name or a partial identifier. The 'PMS 7524 C' code refers to a specific target in the Pantone Matching System and ensures that everyone in the supply chain refers to the same standard. Omitting or altering the code, or not specifying the correct suffix (such as 'C' for coated), may result in receiving a different color than intended. Always double-check the code against your project documentation before placing your order to avoid mismatches.

When is sampling recommended before full production using Pantone PMS 7524 C?

Sampling is strongly recommended for PMS 7524 C when the project is high-visibility, brand-critical, or the application environment could influence color perception. This includes large displays, permanent brand installations, or applications where approval is needed under final lighting and on actual materials. A sample lets you confirm that PMS 7524 C delivers the intended effect in your environment and can help prevent costly errors or rework.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7524 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
