Pantone™ PMS 2318 C

Pantone PMS 2318 C is a brand-standard color reference, but it does not define gloss, application method, or specific substrate conditions. If you are trying to match PMS 2318 C to an existing coating for touch-up, you may see visible differences in sheen, texture, or appearance. Pantone codes are not precise enough to ensure invisible repair on surfaces that have already been painted or finished. For situations where an exact touch-up or repair is required, reference the original manufacturer specification or work with a custom matching process based on the actual finished part.

When using paint matched to Pantone PMS 2318 C on metal or powder-coated parts, proper surface preparation is essential for both appearance and adhesion. Surfaces should be cleaned, degreased, and scuffed as appropriate for the coating type. Existing coatings, gloss level, and surface texture will all affect the final look of PMS 2318 C, especially because it is a vivid and saturated yellow-green color. For best results, test the paint on a sample panel of the actual material and finish under final lighting conditions before full production.

Pantone PMS 2318 C is frequently specified as a brand color target for signs, displays, and exhibit components where consistent visual identity is important. Using PMS 2318 C allows teams to communicate a precise color standard, but it is important to understand that actual appearance may vary depending on material and finish. Always evaluate painted samples of PMS 2318 C on the real substrate under project lighting to confirm brand color expectations before proceeding with full fabrication or installation.

When painting plastics or low-surface-energy materials with Pantone PMS 2318 C matched paint, surface preparation and primer selection are critical. Some plastics will require specialty primers or adhesion promoters to ensure coating durability and consistent appearance. Because PMS 2318 C is a saturated color, uniform coverage may take additional coats. Always test the full system, including primer and topcoat, on your actual plastic substrate before starting production or installation.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
