PMS 7478 C is a brand color from the Pantone PMS collection, selected for its clean, gentle, and modern character. The color conveys a fresh, technical, and approachable feel, with a distinctly cool undertone. Its specific chromatic balance and lightness are often used to project clarity and energy in visual identity systems and environmental graphics.

PMS 7478 C appears as a light blue-green with significant brightness (LRV 66.01). The color exhibits a cool temperature, leaning towards blue with a noticeable green cast. PMS 7478 C demonstrates moderate to high saturation for its lightness, resulting in a vivid and lively appearance without becoming harsh. The undertone is fresh mint-blue with cool, aqueous notes. This color is sensitive to both finish and lighting; gloss or satin finishes may amplify vibrancy, while matte can mute its energy.

PMS 7478 C works effectively for branded elements where a clear, modern, and visually optimistic hue is required. Evaluate the color under intended lighting, as shifts between fluorescent, daylight, or LED illumination can alter its perceived balance of blue and green. The color’s relative brightness may cause it to appear lighter or more subdued next to denser hues, and highly saturated versions may require attention to substrate coverage.

Similar colors:
PMS 7465 C — Slightly darker, with more pronounced blue-green chroma.

PMS 3242 C — Lighter and more pastel, with a softer and more muted tone.

PMS 3258 C — Deeper and more vivid, leaning greener and with less lightness.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7478 C

What is the correct way to order PMS 7478 C paint to ensure I receive the intended Pantone color?

When ordering PMS 7478 C paint, always specify the full Pantone code including the suffix. The letter at the end, such as 'C' in PMS 7478 C, indicates the color series and finish intended by the Pantone standard. Avoid referencing the color by name only, as several Pantone colors may have similar names or numbers without being identical. For accurate brand results, double check your standards or brand guidelines and provide the full code to the vendor when ordering. This minimizes the risk of receiving the wrong color target.

What should I consider if I want to apply PMS 7478 C paint to plastic or low-energy surfaces?

When applying PMS 7478 C paint to plastics or low-surface-energy materials, keep in mind that not all plastics will accept paint without special preparation. Some plastics may require specific adhesion primers to ensure the paint bonds correctly and maintains the intended appearance. It is important to test PMS 7478 C paint on the actual substrate before moving to full production to confirm adhesion, color consistency, and finish. Always follow surface preparation guidelines specific to the type of plastic for best brand results.

What does it mean to order a Pantone PMS 7478 C color match in paint?

Ordering Pantone PMS 7478 C in paint means you are specifying a visual color target as defined by the Pantone Matching System. This standard allows vendors to reproduce a color aiming for appearance alignment with the Pantone reference. It does not specify a particular paint formula, manufacturing process, or finish type. The paint will be matched to the target visual standard under typical viewing conditions, but differences may occur depending on substrate, finish, and lighting. PMS 7478 C is intended for projects where consistent, brand-focused color is required rather than material-specific touch-up or repair.

How can I achieve uniform color results when using PMS 7478 C paint over large surfaces?

To achieve a consistent appearance when applying PMS 7478 C paint over large areas, use proper surface preparation and apply all coats under similar conditions. Maintain a consistent spray distance or application technique, overlap passes appropriately, and avoid stopping mid-surface. Highly saturated or lighter colors like PMS 7478 C may need extra coats to reach full coverage, so plan for enough product and drying time. Always evaluate color uniformity under the lighting where the final project will be displayed to ensure the intended brand presence.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7478 C?

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7478 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
