Pantone™ PMS 493 C

PMS 493 C is often specified as a brand standard in the fabrication of signs, displays, and exhibit components. Choosing PMS 493 C ensures brand consistency across different materials and fabricated pieces. However, it is important to sample the color on your actual substrate and under your planned lighting, as the appearance of PMS 493 C can shift based on material, gloss, and viewing conditions. For best results, confirm appearance with a physical sample before full production.

When using PMS 493 C on metal or powder-coated surfaces, it is important to properly scuff and clean the surface before painting. Residual gloss, existing coatings, or surface contamination can affect both color and adhesion. Because PMS 493 C is a light, saturated pink, existing substrate color or gloss can also impact the final appearance. To avoid surprises, order a sample or test the finish on your actual parts before committing to a full project run.

Matching PMS 493 C accurately can be challenging, especially given its bright, saturated pink character. Differences in materials, gloss, and lighting can result in visible shifts in the perceived color. MyPerfectColor specializes in producing matches that target the PMS 493 C reference, but some visual variation is normal, especially in side-by-side comparison of painted metal, plastics, and other substrates. Review samples under your intended lighting to ensure they meet your acceptance criteria before production.

For even, accurate PMS 493 C color results, apply multiple thin coats of spray paint, allowing appropriate drying or flash time between each application. Thin coats improve coverage control, minimize runs, and help the color build up evenly, which is important for saturated colors like PMS 493 C. Avoid trying to cover in one heavy coat, and always follow substrate preparation best practices for brand-critical applications.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 493 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
