Pantone™ PMS 690 C

Pantone PMS 690 C is not widely documented in public brand standards for major global organizations. It is mainly chosen for projects needing a dark, muted rose with an understated presence, providing subtle branded accents in display, exhibit, or signage environments where a less saturated color is preferred. For critical brand applications, always confirm the official color reference required in your specifications before ordering.

PMS 690 C is a dark, muted rose that can show variations if coverage is inconsistent, especially over large surfaces. Use a uniform application technique, such as maintaining a consistent spray distance and overlap if using spray paint, or backrolling if brushing or rolling. Plan for multiple coats if the underlying surface has high contrast or if coverage is uneven. Indoors, review under typical lighting to check for patchiness. An appropriate primer or tinted base coat can improve coverage and appearance with muted reds like PMS 690 C.

The appearance of PMS 690 C can shift notably with gloss, satin, or matte finishes. Gloss or semi-gloss finishes increase perceived depth and make the rose aspect richer, while matte finishes produce a softer, more muted look. Because PMS 690 C is a low-light, muted color, its darkness and undertone may look different depending on the sheen and ambient lighting. Always confirm the required finish with brand guidelines to maintain the desired visual effect in your display or marketing application.

A primer is recommended for PMS 690 C when painting over bare or porous materials, high-contrast surfaces, or where maximum adhesion and evenness are required. This is especially important for dark, muted reds, which may be less opaque and require more coverage to achieve uniform color. Consult your substrate and paint type for primer compatibility. Using a suitable primer can improve coverage, reduce visible patchiness, and help achieve accurate brand color on display components.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
