Always specify the full Pantone code, including any suffix like 'C' for coated, to avoid confusion with similar colors. Relying on a name alone can lead to errors, as other colors may have similar names, but only the code defines the specific color target recognized in brand and print standards.

Ordering a standard Pantone PMS 499 C match is suitable when your main goal is to achieve brand consistency in marketing, display, exhibit, or prototype applications where PMS 499 C is the specified color target. This is recommended for brand-facing signs, marketing installations, or concept models that require strong visual alignment to Pantone standards. For high-visibility installations or multi-material projects, consider reviewing a physical sample on the actual substrate before full production to confirm the appearance meets your needs.

Pantone PMS 499 C defines only the color target, not the specific sheen, substrate, or application method present on an existing painted item. A standard PMS 499 C match may appear different from your original coating due to these physical variables. Because Pantone references do not include exact gloss or surface finish details, using PMS 499 C for touch-up will rarely achieve an invisible repair. Always consult your original manufacturer or finish reference for touch-up purposes.

Sheen significantly impacts how PMS 499 C is perceived. Glossier finishes can make the color appear deeper and more saturated, while flatter sheens yield a softer, more muted effect. When selecting a sheen, consider the viewing distance, substrate, and overall visual intent for your brand application. Check your brand guidelines if available and confirm how the color should look under your specific lighting and display conditions before ordering.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
