PMS 644 C is a standard color in the Pantone PMS collection, widely used in processes requiring exact color communication, especially for brand and marketing environments. The color reads as balanced, professional, subdued, and cool, fitting technical or institutional contexts. Its thoughtful mid-range vibe avoids the extremes of bright or deeply saturated blues, offering clarity and reliability for design and display purposes.

PMS 644 C has a light-to-mid appearance, with a numeric LRV of 42.19, making it moderately reflective. The color has a cool temperature, derived from its blue base and a hue angle near the blue-violet spectrum. PMS 644 C shows restrained saturation, lacking vivid or intense chroma; it presents as distinctly but quietly blue. The color has underlying greyed or muted undertones, reducing any tendency toward stark vibrancy. PMS 644 C’s perceived brightness and subtlety can be affected by gloss or matte finishes; finish selection will shift the sense of depth and softness.

PMS 644 C works well in contexts where a composed, stable, and non-intrusive blue is desired—such as corporate environments, institutional displays, and signage. Consider the lighting conditions, as cooler ambient lighting may enhance its blueness while warmer light can mute its effect further. This color holds its character reliably across finishes but may read slightly more muted in matte settings. Compared to similar muted blues, PMS 644 C tends to maintain a stable, low-key presence without drifting toward aqua or navy.

Similar colors:
PMS 649 C – A lighter, softer blue with less chromatic depth, resulting in a more neutral and understated look.

PMS 542 C – A similar blue with slightly higher chroma and a brighter, airier feel.

PMS 652 C – A darker, somewhat richer blue offering more depth and a shift toward a formal appearance.

PMS 651 C – A comparable blue, but with a touch more intensity and slightly less muted undertone.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 644 C

How can I ensure batch to batch consistency when reordering PMS 644 C paint?

To maintain consistency when reordering PMS 644 C paint, always use the same product type and sheen as your prior order. Matching Pantone colors like PMS 644 C across different products, sheens, or application methods can cause visible differences. It is important to use the same Pantone standard or approval sample for reference to evaluate color accuracy each time you order. This approach helps keep visual results consistent for brand and display fabrication.

What steps do I follow to order PMS 644 C paint from MyPerfectColor?

To order PMS 644 C paint on MyPerfectColor, first select your preferred paint format such as spray paint, paint pen, or another available option. Next, choose the correct sheen to match your project's needs, as gloss level affects color appearance. Specify your required quantity and review any additional options, then add the selection to your cart. Be careful to confirm all choices before purchase, because differences in product or sheen can affect how PMS 644 C appears in your application.

How does the texture of my surface impact the appearance of PMS 644 C paint?

Surface texture can strongly influence how PMS 644 C appears once applied. Smoother surfaces reflect light more evenly, which can make the color appear brighter and more uniform. Rough or matte surfaces scatter light and can make PMS 644 C look slightly darker or less saturated. Shadows from texture may add subtle variation, so for best visual consistency across multiple pieces, use the same substrate and surface preparation throughout your project.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 644 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
