PMS 5245 C is a standardized color in the Pantone Matching System (PMS), used extensively in brand and marketing environments requiring precise color specification. This color presents with a soft, muted appearance that reads as a pale mauve or lavender-grey, suggesting a calm and professional character. Its overall vibe is subtle, understated, cool, refined, and contemporary. PMS 5245 C is selected in projects demanding accurate, repeatable results across displays, signage, exhibits, and various material substrates.

PMS 5245 C appears light in value (LRV 67.99), offering noticeable but gentle contrast on white surfaces. - The color maintains a cool tendency, with lavender-grey undertones that prevent any sense of warmth. - PMS 5245 C shows low chroma, resulting in a subdued, less vibrant appearance. - The undertone leans toward muted purple or mauve, contributing a nuanced coolness without being overtly colorful. - The color may exhibit minor finish sensitivity; higher gloss can subtly emphasize the violet cast, while matte surfaces may further neutralize the hue.

PMS 5245 C is operationally effective where a soft, cool background or supporting brand accent is required. It works especially well in applications where brand colors need to harmonize or reduce visual distraction, such as exhibit backgrounds or wayfinding elements. It is advisable to assess this color under final lighting and finish conditions, as its subtle purple undertone and lightness may shift slightly depending on gloss level and illumination quality. Compared to similar muted cool tones, PMS 5245 C remains softer and less saturated, minimizing the risk of overpowering adjoining brand elements.

Similar colors:
PMS 5225 C: Slightly darker and more chromatic, resulting in a richer, deeper mauve.

PMS 5235 C: Similar in temperature but noticeably darker, offering greater contrast.

PMS 524 C: Lighter and more neutral, reducing the perceptible lavender cast.

PMS 5285 C: Cooler and marginally more saturated, for a clearer blue-violet effect.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 5245 C

How should PMS 5245 C be used to meet brand standards in sign, display, or exhibit fabrication?

PMS 5245 C is frequently specified for signs, displays, and exhibit components when strict brand consistency is required. Because Pantone codes are targets for visual match, not paint formulas, expect some variation across materials and finishes. Always use PMS 5245 C as your visual color reference and sample your selected paint on the actual substrate before proceeding with full production. Assess color appearance under the lighting and finish conditions of the final installation to confirm acceptability for brand-facing applications.

What should I consider when selecting a sheen for PMS 5245 C paint?

Sheen can noticeably affect how PMS 5245 C is perceived on your installation. Higher gloss finishes may make the color look slightly deeper and can intensify the subtle lavender undertone, while matte finishes often render the shade more neutral and subdued. Choose sheen based on substrate, intended viewing distance, and whether a subdued or more distinct look is needed. If color accuracy is critical, always sample PMS 5245 C on your actual material and inspect under the expected lighting conditions before ordering full quantities.

Can PMS 5245 C matched paint be returned or exchanged if the color or sheen is not as expected?

PMS 5245 C matched paint is custom made to order for each request. Because of this, returns and exchanges are generally not possible if a different finish or color is needed after production. Carefully review all specifications, select the correct format and sheen, and sample the paint when possible before ordering larger amounts. This helps ensure PMS 5245 C meets your requirements and reduces the risk of unexpected results.

What are the best practices for using PMS 5245 C in pop-ups or retail brand installations?

In pop-up or retail environments, PMS 5245 C is often selected for branded elements that need to look consistent across varying substrates. Durability of finish and accurate color under site lighting are both important. Always test PMS 5245 C on the intended material and inspect under the lighting conditions of the space before large-scale installation. This ensures the color meets your brand standards and performs well throughout the duration of the event or activation.

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 5245 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
