PMS 524 C is part of the Pantone PMS collection, used globally for brand, marketing, and display work. This color has a light, soft appearance with a subtle lavender hue, presenting a clean, calm, and contemporary vibe. With a relatively high LRV of 64.07, PMS 524 C reads as light on most surfaces. Its low chroma and cool violet undertone make it feel restrained, technical, and versatile in visual brand systems.

PMS 524 C appears light in tone, with a noticeable luminosity.

The color has a cool tendency, influenced by mauve and violet undertones.

PMS 524 C shows low to moderate saturation, resulting in a muted and understated appearance.

The undertone is primarily lavender-violet, which can shift cooler or warmer depending on lighting.

The color may be sensitive to finish choice, with satin and gloss finishes potentially increasing its coolness and vibrancy.

PMS 524 C maintains stability under most lighting conditions but may look slightly grayer or bluer in cooler lighting.

PMS 524 C works best where a soft, non-intrusive accent is needed, or when a brand system requires a modern lavender or light purple. It is effective in retail environments, displays, and prototypes where color fidelity is critical. For accurate color representation, evaluate PMS 524 C on the intended substrate and under the final lighting conditions. Gloss and sheen can affect the perceived saturation and lightness; matte finishes will mute the color further. When compared to similar colors, PMS 524 C is generally less saturated and cooler, helping it serve as an understated purple that avoids feeling overly playful or bold.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 523 C – Slightly lighter and less muted, presenting a faintly warmer lavender appearance.
  • PMS 5205 C – Noticeably darker and more saturated, moving toward a richer, fuller purple.
  • PMS 5285 C – Cooler and grayer, with a more subdued and technical violet tone.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 524 C

Why is it important to order Pantone PMS 524 C from a licensed and authorized source?

Pantone PMS 524 C is a standardized reference color, and licensed reproduction helps ensure your order aligns closely with Pantone's official target. MyPerfectColor is authorized to match Pantone colors in paint, using approved methods and controls. Ordering from an authorized source reduces risk of color variance and helps protect brand integrity for marketing, displays, and prototypes dependent on precise PMS 524 C color communication.

How does sheen choice impact the appearance of Pantone PMS 524 C in brand or display applications?

The sheen (matte, satin, gloss) you select for Pantone PMS 524 C strongly influences its perceived brightness and color quality. Satin or gloss finishes tend to make PMS 524 C look cooler and more vibrant, while matte finishes mute the color, resulting in a softer appearance. Consider viewing distance, substrate, and the intended lighting when selecting sheen to ensure the color communicates the right visual intent for brand or marketing needs.

What should I expect for durability when using spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 524 C?

Durability of spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 524 C depends on substrate preparation, choice of topcoat, and environmental conditions. For display and brand experience use, it is critical to select the correct paint type for your project's exposure to abrasion, sunlight, or humidity. Proper substrate prep and optional protective topcoats can improve longevity. Always evaluate requirements for your installation or prototype before selecting spray paint for PMS 524 C.

What product formats are available if I need Pantone PMS 524 C matched for my project?

Pantone PMS 524 C can be ordered as custom spray paint, paint pens, brush-in-cap bottles, and in other coatings such as housepaint or specialty finishes where offered. Consider the size and type of your display, prototype, or fabricated component to select the most suitable format. Spray paint is often chosen for coverage and ease on larger brand-driven displays, while paint pens and brush-in-cap bottles support detailed work. Select your format to match both the application area and the required level of control.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 524 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
