PMS 2985 C is part of the Pantone Matching System (PMS) collection, a widely used industry standard for consistent brand and display color specification. This color is visually energetic and technical, delivering a crisp, approachable, and modern vibe. Its balanced tone is neither dark nor overly saturated, making it operationally useful for visibility and distinction in a range of branded contexts.
PMS 2985 C presents as a moderately light blue; its LRV of 42.19 supports good visibility without appearing pastel or washed out. PMS 2985 C is cool-toned, with a distinct blue hue leaning towards azure rather than teal or purple. It is highly saturated but not overpowering, maintaining clarity and chromatic strength without feeling neon. The undertone is clear and clean, with minimal grayness or muddiness that could impact brand legibility. Brightness is susceptible to surface gloss differences and can shift slightly in various lighting and finishes, especially in high-sheen applications.
PMS 2985 C functions well where a defined, energetic blue is needed for immediate recognition, particularly in situations demanding consistency across surfaces such as displays, prototypes, and branded fixtures. Always check the color with both a Pantone reference and a paint sample under final lighting, as gloss and application method can affect its look. It appears cooler than many mid-blues and can seem brighter on large surfaces or under daylight-balanced lighting. Prepare a smooth, consistent base to ensure color uniformity and adequate hide; attention may be needed if applying over high-contrast backgrounds.

No, Pantone PMS 2985 C does not have a reliable direct equivalent in other paint brands' color collections. Most paint manufacturers create their own unique palettes, and vivid Pantone colors like PMS 2985 C are specifically formulated for brand consistency. Attempting to substitute another brand's color may result in a noticeable visual difference. For accurate brand results, always specify and order paint custom-matched to PMS 2985 C.
When ordering PMS 2985 C, select an interior paint for indoor environments and an exterior paint for surfaces exposed to weather or direct sunlight. Interior paints are formulated for controlled conditions, while exterior paints offer greater resistance to moisture and UV exposure. If your application includes both, confirm your substrate and intended use to ensure the paint finish and durability will meet project needs.
The suffix in a Pantone code, such as the 'C' in PMS 2985 C, indicates a specific reference used for color communication. Brand standards or design guides may specify PMS 2985 C, PMS 2985 U, or another variant, and each can appear different depending on format or material. Always verify your reference in project documentation to ensure your paint order delivers the intended color appearance.

Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
