PMS 2975 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) formulation, recognized within the Pantone PMS collection as a light, airy blue. The color presents as fresh, clean, and distinctly cool with a bright, open visual character. It projects a sense of clarity, friendliness, and technical precision, lending itself well to environments requiring a crisp, unobtrusive yet noticeable hue.

Pantone® PMS 2975 C . Paint And Spray Paint. MyPerfectColor is the official licensee of Pantone and authorized to reproduce the Pantone Matching System colors in spray paint and other paints.

- PMS 2975 C appears as a light color (LRV: 64.07).

- The color carries a cool tendency.

- Saturation is moderate, maintaining chromatic presence without being intense.

- The undertone is clean blue, leaning toward a slightly icy blue rather than an aqua or greenish note.

- The color is generally stable but may appear lighter or more washed out in high-gloss finishes or under intense daylight.

- PMS 2975 C is frequently associated with branding programs that require a non-intrusive yet visually distinctive light blue.

- The color is often specified for indoor displays, signage, and digital prototypes that demand a crisp, reliable blue option.

PMS 2975 C works well where a light blue needs to convey openness and clarity without overwhelming a design. Evaluate the color under project lighting and finish, as lighter blues can appear even more subdued in matte finishes and brighter in glossy applications. Uniform surface preparation is important: inconsistent priming can result in patchiness due to the color's relatively high lightness, and coverage may require additional coats compared to deeper or less saturated blues. When compared with similar Pantone blues, PMS 2975 C will generally appear less intense, making it suitable for background fields, secondary elements, or locations where subtlety is needed alongside brand distinctiveness.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 291 C – Slightly deeper and more chromatic, providing a more saturated appearance.
  • PMS 290 C – Lighter and less saturated, appearing even softer and more pastel-like.
  • PMS 298 C – A touch more vivid and intense, trending toward a bolder visual effect.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2975 C

How does surface texture impact the appearance of Pantone PMS 2975 C when used for branding or display work?

The surface texture you select for PMS 2975 C can significantly impact how the color is perceived. Smoother surfaces reflect light more evenly and usually make PMS 2975 C appear brighter and more consistent. Rough or matte surfaces, in contrast, scatter light and can introduce shadows, making the color seem slightly darker or less saturated. For brand consistency, always test PMS 2975 C on the actual substrate and finish you will use, as texture and sheen may shift the perceived color.

Will paint in Pantone PMS 2975 C exactly match my Pantone color book swatch?

PMS 2975 C as produced in paint can appear different from the same color in your Pantone color book, especially because the book uses a specific ink on coated paper under controlled lighting. Paint color results will vary based on sheen, substrate, and lighting. For best results, sample PMS 2975 C paint on your actual project material to confirm visual acceptability before full application.

What are the steps to order paint matched to Pantone PMS 2975 C on MyPerfectColor?

To order PMS 2975 C paint, first choose your required paint type (such as spray paint or other available options). Next, select the sheen or finish that aligns with your brand needs and project environment. Specify the quantity you need and review any additional options. Carefully check your selections to be sure they match your project requirements before completing the order to help ensure brand consistency and avoid costly errors.

What should I expect for coverage and undercoat when applying Pantone PMS 2975 C paint?

PMS 2975 C is a light, moderately saturated blue that may require more coats than deeper colors for full coverage, especially over contrasting or unprimed surfaces. Using a white or very light undercoat will improve uniformity and help reach the target color in fewer coats. Planning for adequate surface preparation and extra coats helps achieve a consistent, brand-accurate result when using PMS 2975 C for marketing or displays.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 2975 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
