PMS 2655 C (Pantone PMS system) is a strong, clear, and modern purple noted for its visibility and branding presence. The color is characterized by a lively, saturated feel, with a balance between playful vibrance and professional clarity. PMS 2655 C is frequently valued in contexts where an energetic yet stable purple is needed for visual identity.

PMS 2655 C appears medium-dark due to a light reflectance value (LRV) of 22.93. The color shows a cool tendency, consistent with the purple family and its slight blue influence. PMS 2655 C exhibits high saturation and visual chroma, giving it a vivid, noticeable character. The undertone is cool and bluish, lacking obvious red or warm notes. This color shows moderate sensitivity to finish; gloss finishes can intensify its vibrancy, while matte finishes may soften its impact.

PMS 2655 C works well when a brand or display requires a rich purple with pronounced coolness. When using this color, test it under project lighting conditions to evaluate its appearance, as purples can shift notably between different light sources. Because of its high chroma, careful substrate preparation and sufficient coats may be necessary to achieve full hide and clean color. Compared to similar purples, PMS 2655 C reads clearer and slightly cooler, making it visually distinct without appearing muted.

Similar colors:

PMS 266 C – More chromatic and slightly darker, providing a deeper, more intense purple.

PMS 2715 C – Lighter and exhibiting a markedly cooler, almost blue-violet aspect.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2655 C

Will PMS 2655 C look different in gloss versus matte finishes?

Yes, PMS 2655 C can look noticeably different depending on the finish. Gloss finishes tend to make the color appear more vibrant and slightly brighter, while matte finishes can soften the perceived chroma and reduce reflectivity. When comparing PMS 2655 C samples with different sheen levels, they may appear as different colors even if the underlying formula is the same. For brand projects where precise visual matching is important, specify and sample the intended gloss level before full production.

How much area does a spray can of PMS 2655 C typically cover?

A standard spray can of PMS 2655 C generally covers about 20 to 25 square feet per coat on smooth, primed surfaces. Highly saturated colors like PMS 2655 C may require multiple coats to achieve full coverage and true color. Actual coverage can vary based on surface texture, application method, and color change from the underlying surface. For best results, estimate your total project area, allow for at least two coats, and consider ordering extra to account for touch-ups during installation or display buildout.

Why is it important to use the correct PMS code, like PMS 2655 C, when ordering paint?

Pantone PMS codes such as PMS 2655 C use suffixes and numbers to distinguish specific colors and intended print or coating conditions. Using the correct code ensures you get the right color reference for your project. For brand or display work, always confirm the specified Pantone code and suffix match your standards or documentation. Ordering the wrong code or omitting the suffix could result in receiving a different shade than intended.

When should I sample PMS 2655 C before ordering full production quantities?

Sampling PMS 2655 C is strongly recommended for high-visibility brand projects, large installations, or any application where color accuracy is critical. Sampling allows you to confirm the color on your chosen substrate and under your project lighting conditions, both of which can affect how PMS 2655 C appears. This is especially important for vivid colors and when finish or gloss level may impact the final look. Approving a sample can help avoid costly mistakes or rework.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 2655 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 2655 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Can I use the Pantone PMS 2655 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
