Pantone™ PMS 876 U

PMS 876 U is a Pantone Matching System color used as a visual reference to communicate a specific brand color target. It is not a paint formula or finish specification. Brands use PMS 876 U so different vendors and materials can aim at the same color appearance across signage, displays, and marketing environments.

When ordering paint matched to PMS 876 U, the goal is visual alignment to the Pantone standard under typical viewing conditions. Finish, lighting, and substrate can all influence how the color is perceived, so brand-facing applications should be evaluated in context.

The choice between matte and gloss affects how PMS 876 U is perceived. Glossier finishes tend to increase visual punch and reflectivity, which can make metallic Pantone colors appear more vivid under direct lighting. Matte finishes reduce glare and reflections, which can be helpful in brightly lit spaces or when viewers are close to the surface.

Viewing distance, lighting direction, and brand guidelines should guide this decision. If the installation is high visibility or requires formal approval, ordering a sample in the intended finish is recommended before committing to full production.

Pantone PMS colors like PMS 876 U are licensed color standards. Authorized reproduction means the match is created using Pantone reference data rather than visual guesswork or generic color libraries.

This matters for brand consistency. Using an authorized Pantone match reduces the risk of noticeable color differences across vendors and materials, which is especially important for metallic and brand-critical colors.

For PMS 876 U spray paint, multiple light coats generally produce a more even and controlled finish than one heavy coat. Light passes help metallic pigments distribute more uniformly and reduce the chance of streaking or uneven reflectivity.

Allow each coat to flash and settle before applying the next. Exact timing depends on the product and conditions, so follow the product-specific instructions. Testing on a sample surface is recommended to confirm coverage and visual appearance before production.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
