Pantone® PMS 877 C . Paint And Spray Paint. MyPerfectColor is the official licensee of Pantone and authorized to reproduce the Pantone Matching System colors in spray paint and other paints.

PMS 877 C is a metallic shade from the Pantone PMS system, frequently associated with contemporary, technical, and industrial contexts. The color is visually cool, solid, and understated, with a distinctly metallic finish that adds reflectivity. Its character is practical, mechanical, and neutral, lacking overt color warmth. PMS 877 C's metallic effect is an operational feature rather than a decorative accent, making it suitable for applications that call for neutrality and visual clarity.

- PMS 877 C displays a medium visual lightness, with an LRV of 28.12. - The color appears cool, with a subtle blue-gray undertone. - PMS 877 C has low chroma, resulting in a subdued, non-vivid appearance. - The metallic nature of PMS 877 C is finish-sensitive; appearance varies with application method, angle of view, and lighting conditions. - This color exhibits a neutral-to-cool cast, free from strong coloration, which helps maintain its utility in standardized branding applications.

PMS 877 C works well wherever a standardized, cool metallic effect is needed, such as for brand system consistency, signage, or industrial prototypes. Care should be taken to evaluate the finish in the intended lighting, as the metallic properties can cause shifts in appearance depending on substrate and surface preparation. Extra attention may be required to achieve even coverage and consistent reflectivity, especially compared to solid non-metallic colors; streaking or texture differences may be more visible with metallic paints. It is not a substitute for specialty coatings when true metallic durability is required.

Similar colors:
PMS 8001 C – A metallic hue that is lighter, with a slightly higher visual reflectance and less blue undertone.

PMS 8400 C – A metallic shade that is darker and carries a warmer, more graphite-oriented appearance.

PMS 877 U – The uncoated (matte) version of 877, which appears less reflective and more muted than PMS 877 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 877 C

Can Pantone PMS 877 C be directly matched to standard colors from other paint brands?

No, Pantone PMS 877 C cannot be reliably matched to standard colors from other paint brands. Each paint manufacturer creates its own color palette, and there is no universal formula or direct cross-reference, especially for metallic shades like PMS 877 C. Rely on the Pantone PMS 877 C specification itself and request a direct Pantone match to help ensure consistent brand results. For critical projects, always evaluate a sample applied to your actual material.

How do I choose between interior and exterior paint types for Pantone PMS 877 C?

When specifying Pantone PMS 877 C, base your paint type selection on the intended environment. For indoor brand displays or signage, interior formulas are usually sufficient. For outdoor use, select exterior-rated paint to help protect against weathering and environmental exposure. If PMS 877 C will be exposed to moisture, sunlight, or temperature changes, confirm the product is rated for exterior use and consider a compatible clear coat for added protection.

What should I know about the durability of Pantone PMS 877 C spray paint for branding projects?

Pantone PMS 877 C spray paint's durability depends on surface preparation, paint type, and environmental conditions. Metallic finishes like PMS 877 C can be sensitive to surface texture and handling. For best results, apply to clean, properly primed surfaces and consider a clear protective topcoat. If your project is subject to heavy use, cleaning, or outdoor exposure, discuss your needs with MyPerfectColor to select the right paint and finish for the intended conditions.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 877 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
