PMS 7471 U is a Pantone Matching System color identified as a light, fresh blue-green with a restrained, modern character. It conveys a cool, open, and approachable visual tone without strong saturation.
The color reads as light, with an LRV of 60.32, and leans clearly cool between blue and green. It maintains moderate saturation and a subtle green undertone, giving it clarity without appearing vivid.
PMS 7471 U works well when a light, calming brand color is needed without visual heaviness. Because lighter colors can be influenced by surface contrast and lighting, careful surface preparation and evaluation under actual conditions can help achieve consistent results.

PMS 7472 U: slightly darker and more saturated, with increased blue depth.
PMS 7466 U: deeper and cooler, with stronger blue emphasis.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7471 U
Why is Pantone PMS 7471 U not recommended for touch-up or repair matching?
Pantone PMS 7471 U is a color reference, not a coating specification. The Pantone standard does not define sheen, film build, application method, or the original substrate. Existing finishes are affected by aging, wear, and lighting, which means a new Pantone-based mix is unlikely to visually blend with what is already in place.
For this reason, PMS 7471 U should be used when the Pantone color itself is the target, not when trying to match an existing painted surface.
When is ordering a standard Pantone PMS 7471 U paint match the right choice?
A standard match to Pantone PMS 7471 U is appropriate when the Pantone reference is the approved color target. This commonly includes brand-facing displays, signage, exhibits, prototypes, and marketing installations where visual alignment to the Pantone system is the priority.
In these cases, the goal is clear, consistent color appearance rather than matching an existing coating formula or surface condition.
What should I expect for coverage and hide when applying Pantone PMS 7471 U?
Pantone PMS 7471 U is a relatively saturated color, and like many vivid Pantone hues it may not fully hide the substrate in a single coat. Additional coats are often required to achieve uniform color and depth.
Substrate color, surface preparation, and sheen choice can all affect how quickly PMS 7471 U reaches a consistent appearance.
How do I choose the right paint type for interior or exterior use with Pantone PMS 7471 U?
When ordering Pantone PMS 7471 U, select the paint type based on where and how it will be used. Interior projects prioritize appearance and finish control, while exterior applications require products designed to handle weather and UV exposure.
The Pantone color target remains the same, but choosing a paint formulated for the correct environment helps maintain the intended look over time.
How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7471 U?
Can I use the Pantone PMS 7471 U for touch up?
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
