PMS 7472 U is a Pantone PMS color used as a standardized visual target for brand and marketing applications. It presents as a balanced blue-green with a controlled, professional character that reads calm, modern, and composed.

The color reads as mid-range in lightness, with an LRV of 39.36. It shows a cool blue-green tendency with moderate saturation and a subtle gray undertone that tempers brightness.

PMS 7472 U works well in brand-facing displays, signage, and exhibit components where a composed, contemporary look is desired. As a mid-tone cool color, it can shift noticeably under different lighting conditions, so evaluation in the intended environment is recommended.

Smooth, well-primed surfaces and consistent application help maintain uniform appearance and reduce visual variation.

Similar colors:

PMS 7471 U: lighter and slightly softer, with a more open blue-green appearance.
PMS 7473 U: darker and more subdued, with increased depth and weight.
PMS 7711 U: more saturated and bluer, with higher visual intensity.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7472 U

What does specifying Pantone PMS 7472 U mean for brand consistency?

Pantone PMS 7472 U is a standardized Pantone Matching System color used as a visual reference, not a paint formula. Brands use PMS colors like PMS 7472 U to communicate an exact color target across vendors, materials, and production methods.

When you order paint matched to PMS 7472 U, the goal is visual alignment with the Pantone reference so signage, displays, and branded environments appear consistent, even when produced by different suppliers.

Is paint matched to Pantone PMS 7472 U custom made, and what should I confirm before ordering?

Yes. Paint matched to Pantone PMS 7472 U is custom made to order. Because it is produced specifically for your request, it is important to confirm the product format, sheen, and quantity before ordering.

If the color will be used in a high-visibility brand application, consider ordering a sample first to confirm appearance under your lighting and on your actual substrate. Changes after production are limited for custom-made items.

Why can Pantone PMS 7472 U look different on different materials?

Pantone PMS 7472 U is defined as a visual color standard, but its appearance can change depending on the material it is applied to. Factors like surface texture, absorption, and reflectivity influence how the color is perceived.

For multi-material projects such as metal, plastic, wood, or foam components, it is recommended to evaluate PMS 7472 U on each actual substrate to ensure the overall brand presentation meets expectations.

Should I choose a matte or gloss finish for Pantone PMS 7472 U?

The choice between matte and gloss affects how PMS 7472 U is perceived. Gloss finishes typically increase color punch and saturation but can introduce glare under strong lighting. Matte finishes reduce reflections and glare but may appear slightly softer.

Consider viewing distance, lighting conditions, and brand standards when selecting a finish. For critical brand applications, testing both finishes can help determine which best supports the intended visual impact.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7472 U?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 7472 U depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 7472 U for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
