PMS 7427 U is a Pantone PMS color used as a precise visual reference in branding, display fabrication, and industrial design contexts. It presents as a dark, intense red with a serious, assertive vibe that reads as bold, formal, and commanding rather than playful.
The color appears very dark, with an LRV of 8.01, and shows a warm red tendency with deep crimson undertones. Its high saturation creates strong visual impact but can read heavier or darker depending on lighting conditions.
PMS 7427 U works well when a bold, authoritative red is needed to anchor a visual system or draw focused attention. Because of its depth and saturation, it may require additional coats for uniform coverage, and surface preparation can significantly influence final appearance.
Similar colors:
PMS 7427 C: slightly cleaner and more vivid, with a marginally brighter appearance.
PMS 201 C: darker and more brown-leaning, with a heavier, more muted red character.
PMS 209 C: similar in depth but cooler, with a subtle blue-red influence.

Pantone PMS 7427 U is a standardized color reference used to communicate a specific brand color target. It is not a paint formula or finish specification. Brands use PMS colors like PMS 7427 U so different vendors and materials can aim at the same visual color, helping logos, displays, and environments look consistent.
When ordering paint matched to PMS 7427 U, the goal is visual alignment to the Pantone reference. Factors like substrate, sheen, and lighting can influence how the color is perceived, so PMS matching works best for brand-facing displays, prototypes, and marketing installations where visual consistency is the priority.
Paint matched to Pantone PMS 7427 U is custom produced, so shipping timelines include both production time and transit time. Transit time varies based on your location and the shipping method you select at checkout.
If you have a fixed install or event deadline, plan backward from that date and allow extra time for transit variability. Ordering earlier and selecting an appropriate shipping method helps reduce schedule risk for brand and marketing projects.
Pantone PMS 7427 U is a vivid, saturated color, and colors in this range often have lower hide than neutral or muted tones. This means additional coats may be needed to achieve uniform coverage and consistent appearance.
Substrate color, primer choice, and sheen can all affect results. For high-visibility brand applications, testing the color on your actual surface before full application helps confirm coverage expectations.
Proper surface preparation is essential for reliable results with Pantone PMS 7427 U. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dust, oils, or residues that could interfere with adhesion.
Depending on the material, light scuffing and an appropriate primer may be recommended. Always apply a small test area first to confirm adhesion, appearance, and coverage before proceeding with the full application.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 7427 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
