PMS 7422 U is a Pantone PMS color defined within the Pantone Matching System and used as a standardized visual reference for brand and marketing applications. The color presents a light, warm red impression with a calm, approachable, understated, clean, and contemporary vibe.
The color appears light in value, with an LRV of 72.09. It reads as warm and red-leaning, with low to moderate saturation and a subtle pink undertone that softens its overall appearance. Due to its lightness, surface variation may be more visible.
PMS 7422 U works well in brand environments where a light red tone is needed without strong intensity. Careful surface preparation and uniform priming can help achieve even coverage, particularly over darker surfaces. Lower-sheen finishes can help minimize the visibility of minor surface imperfections.
Similar colors:
PMS 7421 U: slightly lighter and softer, with less red presence.
PMS 7423 U: deeper and more pronounced, with increased red intensity.
PMS 700 U: more neutral and beige-leaning, with reduced pink character.

Pantone PMS 7422 U is a color communication standard, not a specification for an existing coating. It does not define the original product's sheen, substrate, application method, or aging. Because of this, ordering PMS 7422 U to touch up an existing finish can result in visible differences even if the color target is correct.
If the goal is to blend into an existing painted surface, a Pantone PMS reference is usually not specific enough. PMS colors are best used when the Pantone color itself is the target, not when trying to match an unknown or previously applied coating.
Yes. Expedited production options for Pantone PMS 7422 U are typically available during checkout. Selecting an expedited option shortens production time, but it does not change the color matching process.
If you have a firm deadline, it is recommended to confirm timing before ordering. Production speed can vary by product format and order size, so verifying lead time helps avoid scheduling issues.
Yes. Pantone PMS 7422 U is commonly used as a brand-standard color target for signs, displays, and exhibit components. In these applications, visual alignment to the Pantone reference is typically the primary requirement.
Because appearance can change based on material, sheen, and lighting, many fabricators evaluate the color on the actual substrate before full production. Sampling helps confirm that PMS 7422 U meets brand expectations in the finished environment.
Ordering a standard Pantone PMS 7422 U match is appropriate when the Pantone reference itself is the required color target. This includes brand-facing displays, marketing installations, exhibits, and prototypes where brand consistency matters more than matching a specific existing surface.
It is less appropriate when the goal is to replicate a previously applied coating or blend into an unknown finish. In those cases, a Pantone PMS match may look correct by reference but still appear different in real-world conditions.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 7422 U. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 7422 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
