Ordering a Pantone PMS 802 U paint means the color is matched to the Pantone PMS 802 U visual reference. Pantone PMS is a standardized color target used to communicate color, not a paint formula, coating system, or finish specification.

The match is created to visually align with the Pantone reference under standard viewing conditions. Differences in substrate, finish, application method, and lighting can change how PMS 802 U appears once applied.

For best results with Pantone PMS 802 U, start with a clean, dry surface. Remove dust, oils, and residues using an appropriate cleaner or degreaser.

On smooth or glossy surfaces, light scuffing can improve adhesion. Always apply a small test area first to confirm adhesion, coverage, and appearance before proceeding with the full application.

Finish has a strong impact on how Pantone PMS 802 U is perceived. Gloss finishes typically make the color appear brighter and more saturated, while satin or matte finishes can slightly reduce visual intensity.

Because PMS 802 U is a vivid color, sheen choice can noticeably change its visual impact under different lighting. If appearance is critical, evaluate the color in the intended finish and lighting before final production.

A standard Pantone PMS 802 U match is appropriate when the Pantone reference is the primary color target, such as for brand displays, signage, exhibits, prototypes, or marketing installations.

This approach works well when visual brand alignment is the goal and the color does not need to match an existing painted surface. For large or high-visibility projects, ordering a sample to confirm appearance is recommended.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
