Pantone™ PMS 803 U

Pantone PMS 803 U is a visual color standard, not a fixed paint formula. When you reorder, the best way to keep results consistent is to stay with the same product type and sheen each time. A gloss spray and a matte paint pen can both be matched to PMS 803 U, but they will not look identical.

For repeat projects, approve a physical sample and keep it as your reference target. Reuse that same reference for future orders, and view samples under similar lighting. This approach helps manage normal batch-to-batch variation and avoids surprises on reorders.

Pantone PMS 803 U is available as custom spray paint and other paint formats used for branding and display work. Common options include spray paint, paint pens, and brush-in-cap bottles, with additional coatings offered where applicable.

Choose spray paint for larger panels, signage, or exhibit components where even coverage matters. Paint pens and brush-in-cap bottles are better for smaller parts, markings, or controlled application areas. Selecting the right format helps ensure coverage, efficiency, and visual consistency.

Yes. Pantone PMS 803 U is commonly used in prototypes and concept models where visual brand alignment is the primary goal. It allows teams to evaluate how a branded color reads on a physical object before moving to production.

For prototypes, select a product format that matches the size and material of your model, then review the color under expected lighting conditions. If approval is critical, order a small sample first so stakeholders can sign off before committing to larger quantities.

The choice between matte and gloss can significantly change how Pantone PMS 803 U is perceived. Gloss finishes typically appear brighter and more saturated, which can increase visual impact for brand-facing elements.

Matte finishes reduce glare and reflections, which can be helpful for close viewing or strong lighting, but they may appear slightly less vivid. Consider viewing distance, lighting, and brand expectations when deciding, and avoid mixing finishes if you need consistent appearance across components.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
