PMS 5787 U is part of the Pantone PMS system and is commonly specified as a brand or reference color. It conveys an earthy, calm, organic, subdued, and functional vibe rather than a vivid or decorative one.
The color presents as a mid-light yellow-green with an LRV of 53.23. This color leans warm due to its yellow influence and shows moderate saturation, appearing controlled rather than bold. It carries a soft, slightly olive undertone that keeps it grounded.
PMS 5787 U works well in brand environments that require a restrained green with good legibility and minimal visual noise. As a mid-light, moderately saturated color, it can show variation across substrates and finishes, so surface preparation and consistent application help maintain uniform appearance. Lighting conditions can shift the balance between yellow and green, making on-site evaluation important for brand-facing work.
Similar colors:
PMS 5783 U: slightly lighter and more yellow, with a softer green presence.
PMS 5793 U: darker and more olive, with increased visual weight.
PMS 5777 U: more neutral and muted, with reduced yellow warmth.

PMS 5787 U is a Pantone PMS reference used to communicate a color target, not a universal paint formula. Most paint brands use their own palettes and colorants, so cross-references are usually approximate and often visually different. This is especially true for Pantone colors that have specific saturation or undertone characteristics.
If brand accuracy matters, order PMS 5787 U as a Pantone matched product rather than relying on a suggested equivalent from another brand. This reduces the risk of visible mismatch when the color is viewed in person.
For PMS 5787 U spray paint, multiple light coats generally produce a more even and visually accurate finish than one heavy coat. Light passes help the color build uniformly and reduce the chance of streaking or texture issues.
Allow each coat to flash off before applying the next. Exact timing depends on conditions like temperature and airflow, so focus on applying the next coat only after the surface looks evenly flashed rather than following a fixed time.
Yes. The finish has a noticeable effect on how PMS 5787 U is perceived. Gloss finishes tend to make the color appear brighter and more saturated, while matte finishes can soften the color and reduce visual intensity. Satin finishes typically fall between these two.
When matching a brand standard, the finish should be considered part of the visual decision. Evaluating a sample of PMS 5787 U in the intended finish and lighting helps avoid surprises after full application.
Basic surface preparation helps PMS 5787 U appear more consistent and adhere properly. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of oils, dust, or residues. Degreasing is often helpful, especially on plastics or metals.
Light scuffing may be appropriate on smooth surfaces to improve adhesion. Before committing to a full application, applying a small test area of PMS 5787 U on the actual substrate is a practical way to confirm appearance and compatibility.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 5787 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
