Pantone™ PMS 484 U

PMS 484 U is a specific Pantone Matching System color identifier. The number 484 defines the color target, and the U suffix means the uncoated Pantone reference. Pantone names are not paint formulas, so the exact code and suffix are critical.

When ordering PMS 484 U paint, always specify the full code including the U. Ordering PMS 484 without the U, or substituting a C or other series, can result in a noticeably different color. Use the exact Pantone reference that your brand standards or project documentation call for.

PMS 484 U paint can be matched for use on plastics, but plastics vary widely in composition and surface energy. Some plastics do not allow paint to adhere properly without surface preparation.

For plastics and other low-surface-energy materials, a compatible adhesion promoter or primer may be required. Always test PMS 484 U on the actual plastic substrate before production to confirm adhesion, appearance, and durability.

The visual appearance of PMS 484 U can change depending on the finish. Gloss finishes tend to make the color appear deeper and more saturated, while matte or flat finishes can make it look slightly lighter or softer.

Because Pantone references are visual targets, not finish specifications, you should choose the finish that matches how the color will be viewed in the final environment. If appearance is critical, evaluate PMS 484 U samples in the intended finish and lighting before finalizing your order.

When applying PMS 484 U over larger surfaces, consistent application technique is important for uniform appearance. Variations in film thickness, overlap, or drying time can cause visible differences in color intensity.

Plan for even coverage, consistent spray or application passes, and sufficient coats to achieve full hide. For large, high-visibility areas, it is recommended to test a full section first to confirm that PMS 484 U looks consistent across the entire surface.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
