Pantone™ PMS 429 U

A Pantone matched spray paint for PMS 429 U is intended for visual color accuracy, not as a durability specification. Longevity depends on surface preparation, the paint type selected, and the environment where it is used.

For indoor displays or short-term marketing installations, standard spray applications are typically sufficient. For higher handling, outdoor exposure, or longer-term use, consider substrates that are properly cleaned and primed and ask about optional clear coats or more durable paint systems. The Pantone PMS reference defines the color target only, not how long the coating will last.

Ordering a standard Pantone PMS match for PMS 429 U is appropriate when the goal is visual alignment with brand standards. This includes marketing displays, signage, exhibits, prototypes, and brand experiences where the Pantone reference is the approved color target.

A standard match works best when appearance is the priority and the color will be evaluated visually rather than measured against an existing painted surface. For large, high-visibility installations or projects requiring formal approval, reviewing a physical sample under actual lighting conditions is recommended.

Coverage and hide can vary depending on the substrate, primer color, and paint format used. While PMS 429 U is not a highly saturated color, uniform appearance still depends on proper surface preparation and even application.

Applying the paint over a suitable primer and allowing adequate dry time between coats helps achieve consistent color and sheen. Always plan for test application to confirm coverage expectations before committing to a full production run.

PMS 429 U is available as custom spray paint and other paint formats for branding and display applications. Common options include spray paint, paint pens, and brush-in-cap bottles.

The right format depends on how the color will be applied. Spray paint is typically used for panels, props, and display components, while pens or small bottles are better suited for detailed work or small parts. The Pantone PMS code defines the color reference, and each format is mixed to visually match that target.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
