Pantone™ PMS 322 U

Pantone PMS 322 U is a visual color standard, so its appearance can shift depending on lighting and viewing conditions. Daylight, LED, fluorescent, and warm interior lighting can each change how saturated or dark the color appears. This effect is normal and is related to how pigments interact with different light sources.

For brand-critical work, evaluate PMS 322 U under the same lighting where it will be used, such as retail, exhibit, or display lighting. Reviewing a sprayed sample in the actual environment helps reduce surprises and supports approval decisions.

Proper surface preparation is essential for consistent results with Pantone PMS 322 U. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dust, oils, or residues that could affect adhesion. Degreasing is recommended for plastics, metals, and previously handled parts.

Light scuffing can help promote adhesion on smooth or glossy surfaces, followed by removing any sanding dust. Applying a small test area first allows you to confirm appearance and coverage before committing to full production.

Pantone PMS 322 U is a standardized brand color reference used to communicate a specific visual target across vendors and materials. It helps ensure that signage, displays, prototypes, and marketing elements present a consistent and recognizable brand appearance.

The Pantone code defines the color intent, not a specific paint formula or finish. When ordering paint matched to PMS 322 U, the goal is visual alignment with the Pantone reference for brand-facing applications, rather than material-specific repair matching.

Pantone PMS 322 U is a saturated color, and vivid hues often have lower natural hide than neutral tones. This means additional coats may be required to achieve even, uniform coverage, especially on contrasting or darker substrates.

Using an appropriate undercoat can improve color uniformity and reduce the number of finish coats needed. Planning for test applications helps set realistic expectations for coverage before full production.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
