PMS 282 U is a Pantone PMS color used as a deep navy reference in brand and specification work. It conveys a restrained, formal, stable, corporate, and low-contrast visual character suited to controlled brand environments.
Color characteristicsThe color appears extremely dark, with an LRV of 1.41, and reads as distinctly cool with a strong blue bias. It shows low to moderate saturation, appearing dense rather than vivid, with a subtle blue-violet undertone that becomes more apparent in brighter lighting.
Common usesThe color is commonly specified for corporate identity systems requiring a conservative navy tone. It is often used on signage, exhibits, and branded environments where low glare and visual authority are priorities.
Practical applicationThis color works well in controlled lighting and on smooth, well-prepared surfaces where depth and uniformity are important. Its very low lightness means surface imperfections or inconsistent application may be visible, and it can read nearly black in low light compared to lighter navy colors.
Digital approximationsThis Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

PMS 282 U is a Pantone Matching System color used as a brand reference, not a paint formula or finish specification. It defines a visual color target so different vendors and materials can aim for the same appearance.
When ordering paint matched to PMS 282 U, the goal is brand consistency for displays, signage, prototypes, or environments where visual alignment matters. Because it is a visual standard, the final appearance can vary slightly based on paint type, sheen, substrate, and lighting.
Shipping time for PMS 282 U paint depends on your location, the selected shipping method, and the specific product format you choose. Transit time is separate from production time.
If your project has a fixed deadline, plan extra time for shipping and consider ordering early. This is especially important for brand-facing work where delays can affect installation or approval schedules.
PMS 282 U describes the color target only. Safety, VOC levels, and handling requirements depend on the specific paint product and format you select.
Always review the Safety Data Sheet for the exact product you are ordering and follow all application, ventilation, and handling instructions. This ensures safe use regardless of where or how the color is applied.
Start by selecting PMS 282 U as your color reference. Then choose the paint type and format that fit your project, such as spray paint or another available option, followed by sheen and quantity.
Before finalizing your order, confirm that the selected product is appropriate for your substrate and viewing conditions. For high-visibility brand applications, ordering a sample first can help verify appearance before committing to a larger quantity.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 282 U. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 282 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
