Pantone™ PMS 271 U

Pantone PMS 271 U is a brand color reference used to communicate a visual color target for fabricated elements such as signs, displays, and exhibits. It tells vendors what color the finished piece should visually match, not how the paint is formulated or applied.

For these applications, ordering a standard Pantone match is appropriate when the goal is brand consistency across components. Because materials and finishes vary, evaluating a physical sample on the actual substrate is often the best way to confirm acceptance before full production.

Pantone PMS 271 U is intended as a brand reference, not as a guarantee of a perfect match to an existing painted part. If you need a very close match to an existing item, the most reliable approach is to send a physical sample or part to be matched directly.

Ordering by Pantone alone is best for brand-facing elements where visual alignment to the Pantone standard is the goal. Matching from a physical part accounts for aging, finish, and substrate effects that a Pantone reference cannot capture.

Finish and sheen can significantly change how Pantone PMS 271 U is perceived. Glossier finishes tend to appear brighter and more saturated, while matte finishes can make the same color look softer or darker.

When brand accuracy matters, choose the finish early and evaluate a sample in the expected lighting. The Pantone code defines the color target, but finish choice influences how that color is ultimately seen in real-world installations.

To order Pantone PMS 271 U, select the paint type that fits your application, choose the desired sheen, and specify quantity. The Pantone code serves as the visual reference used to create the color match.

Before ordering large quantities, consider whether a sample is needed to confirm appearance on your substrate and under your lighting. This helps avoid surprises and supports correct purchasing decisions for brand-critical projects.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
