PMS 2623 U is a Pantone PMS color defined as a very dark purple with a cool, blue-violet lean. It presents a bold, saturated appearance that reads as serious, controlled, and visually dense in brand-facing environments.
The color has a very low light reflectance value of 3.52, making it appear nearly black in low light while retaining clear purple identity in adequate lighting. It maintains high saturation despite its darkness and carries a violet undertone with little warmth.
PMS 2623 U performs best in controlled lighting conditions where its depth and contrast can be evaluated accurately. Because of its darkness and saturation, surface preparation, consistent application, and sufficient coat build can help reduce visible variation across larger areas.
Similar colors: PMS 2623 C: slightly cleaner and more contrasty, with a marginally brighter appearance.MyPerfectColor is the official licensee of Pantone and authorized to reproduce the Pantone™ PMS 2623 U color in spray paint and other paints.

PMS 2623 U is a Pantone PMS color, which means it is a licensed visual standard owned by Pantone. Licensed reproduction matters because it ensures the color you receive is matched against the official Pantone reference, not an approximation or unofficial interpretation.
MyPerfectColor is authorized to reproduce Pantone PMS colors in paint, so PMS 2623 U is matched to the Pantone standard target. This is important for brand-facing applications where consistency across vendors, materials, and timelines is required.
Ordering PMS 2623 U paint means you are purchasing paint that is visually matched to the Pantone PMS 2623 U color reference. Pantone PMS codes are communication standards used to define an exact color target.
PMS 2623 U is not a paint formula, coating system, finish specification, or performance rating. Final appearance can vary based on paint type, sheen, substrate, film thickness, and lighting. The Pantone code defines the color goal, not how it is manufactured or applied.
No. Even if an item is specified as PMS 2623 U, Pantone matched paint is intended for brand color reproduction, not for touch-up-grade matching. Existing items may have aged, been produced with different materials, or used finishes that affect how the color appears.
If you need extremely close visual alignment to an existing painted part, the correct path is to send a physical sample for custom matching. Pantone PMS matching is best used when PMS 2623 U itself is the visual target, such as for displays, signage, or branded components.
Whether a primer is needed for PMS 2623 U depends on the paint type, substrate, and exposure conditions. Non-porous surfaces, raw materials, or previously coated surfaces in poor condition often require a primer for proper adhesion and uniform appearance.
Highly saturated Pantone colors like PMS 2623 U can also benefit from proper priming to improve hide and consistency. Primer recommendations should be based on your specific substrate and paint system rather than the Pantone color itself.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 2623 U. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.
The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 2623 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
