PMS 2622 U is a Pantone PMS color defined as a very dark purple with a cool, magenta-influenced character. It presents a serious and restrained visual tone, reading as dense and low-reflectance rather than bright.
The color has a very low lightness, with an LRV of 4.1, and maintains moderately high saturation despite its darkness. It reads cool overall with a clear magenta undertone, and its depth can make surface texture more noticeable, especially in higher-sheen finishes.
PMS 2622 U performs well in brand-facing applications where a dark purple is needed to ground compositions or contrast with lighter colors. Due to its depth and saturation, careful surface preparation, consistent application, and evaluation under intended lighting can help manage visible variation.
Similar colors: PMS 2617 U: slightly lighter and less dense, with reduced visual depth.MyPerfectColor is the official licensee of Pantone and authorized to reproduce the Pantone™ PMS 2622 U color in spray paint and other paints.

Pantone PMS 2622 U is a standardized color reference used to communicate an exact brand color target. It defines how the color should appear visually, not a specific paint formula or finish. Using PMS 2622 U helps teams, vendors, and fabricators align on the same color intent across signage, displays, prototypes, and branded environments.
When ordering paint matched to PMS 2622 U, the goal is visual alignment to the Pantone reference under expected viewing conditions. Finish, substrate, and lighting can all influence perception, so this color should be evaluated as part of the full brand experience rather than as an isolated swatch.
Pantone PMS 2622 U is a vivid, saturated color, which can have lower hide compared to neutral tones. This means the underlying surface can influence how uniform the final color appears.
Planning for an appropriate undercoat and allowing for multiple color coats can improve coverage and consistency. Evaluating coverage on the actual substrate before full production helps avoid surprises and supports a more predictable visual result.
Durability for Pantone PMS 2622 U spray paint depends on surface preparation, the paint system selected, and the environment where it will be used. Pantone matching focuses on color accuracy, not on guaranteeing performance in every condition.
If the application will be handled frequently or exposed to challenging conditions, selecting the appropriate paint type and considering a compatible clear topcoat can help protect appearance. Always choose the paint system based on how and where the color will be used.
For brand approval workflows, ordering a small sample of Pantone PMS 2622 U is strongly recommended. This allows stakeholders to review the color on the actual substrate, with the selected finish, and under the lighting where it will be installed.
Sampling helps confirm visual acceptance before committing to larger quantities, especially for high visibility brand elements or multi material builds where color perception can vary.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 2622 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
