PMS 2612 U is a Pantone PMS color defined as a dark, saturated purple with strong magenta influence. It is commonly selected for brand-driven applications that require bold visual impact and clear color presence.

The color appears very dark, with an LRV of 5.1, and reads as cool-leaning with a pronounced magenta-purple character. Its high saturation and chroma give it strong intensity, while the magenta undertone keeps it from appearing neutral or muted.

PMS 2612 U performs best in brand-facing elements where depth and contrast are intentional design choices. Because of its darkness and saturation, it may require additional coats for uniform appearance, and finish and lighting conditions can noticeably influence how rich or flat the color appears.

Similar colors:
PMS 2607 U: slightly lighter and less saturated, with reduced visual intensity.
PMS 2613 U: darker and cooler, with deeper purple density.
PMS 2622 U: more neutral and slightly less magenta in appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2612 U

How is Pantone PMS 2612 U typically used in brand and marketing applications?

Pantone PMS 2612 U is a vivid, saturated violet specified in brand standards when a strong, distinctive color presence is required. In real-world use, Pantone PMS codes like PMS 2612 U function as a shared visual reference so designers, fabricators, and vendors are targeting the same color appearance. The code defines the color target only; it does not define paint chemistry, finish, or application method.

When ordering paint matched to PMS 2612 U, the goal is visual alignment with the Pantone reference under expected lighting and viewing conditions, not an exact material-to-material match.

Where can I find the SDS for paint matched to Pantone PMS 2612 U?

The Safety Data Sheet is not tied to the Pantone PMS 2612 U color code itself. SDS documents are specific to the paint product and formulation you select, such as spray paint, epoxy, or urethane.

After choosing the product type for your PMS 2612 U order, the correct SDS can be found in the SDS library for that product. Always review the SDS for the exact paint format you are using, since safety and handling information varies by coating type.

What should I expect for coverage and hide when using Pantone PMS 2612 U paint?

Pantone PMS 2612 U is a highly saturated color, which can result in lower hide compared to neutral or muted colors. This means additional coats may be required to achieve uniform coverage, especially over light, dark, or uneven substrates.

For brand-facing applications, applying a compatible primer and planning for multiple coats helps achieve consistent color appearance and visual depth. Always evaluate coverage on the actual substrate before full production.

How long does shipping usually take for a Pantone PMS 2612 U paint order?

Shipping transit time for paint matched to Pantone PMS 2612 U depends on your location and the shipping method selected at checkout. Production time and carrier transit time are separate factors.

If your project has a fixed deadline, allow extra time for transit and consider faster shipping options. Planning ahead is especially important for marketing and display schedules where color-accurate materials are needed by a specific date.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 2612 U?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 2612 U depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 2612 U for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 2612 U to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 2612 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
