PMS 2597 U is a Pantone PMS color identified within the Pantone Matching System and is commonly specified for brand-driven applications. It conveys a dramatic, high-impact, intense, modern, and expressive vibe suited to environments where color authority and recognition matter.
The color appears very dark, with an LRV of 4.1. It reads as cool overall, leaning toward the blue-violet side of purple, and is highly saturated and visually dense.
PMS 2597 U shows a rich violet undertone rather than a red-leaning purple and can be sensitive to finish and lighting. Gloss finishes tend to deepen its appearance, while matte finishes can slightly mute saturation.
This color works well in controlled brand environments, displays, and fabricated elements where lighting and finish can be managed. Its depth and saturation may require additional coats for even coverage, and priming can help improve uniformity.
Under bright or directional lighting, PMS 2597 U can appear nearly black in shadowed areas, so evaluating a painted sample in the intended environment helps confirm expectations.
Similar colors: PMS 2592 U: slightly lighter and less saturated, with a softer violet presence.MyPerfectColor is the official licensee of Pantone and authorized to reproduce the Pantone™ PMS 2597 U color in spray paint and other paints.

In Pantone PMS 2597 U, the suffix is part of the color reference and identifies the intended Pantone standard. Pantone codes can include different suffixes or series that change the visual target. Before ordering, confirm that PMS 2597 U is the exact reference specified in your brand standards or project documentation.
Pantone PMS codes communicate a color target, not a paint formula. Ordering the wrong suffix can lead to a visible mismatch even if the base number looks similar.
The Safety Data Sheet is tied to the specific paint product and chemistry, not to the Pantone PMS 2597 U color itself. Once you select a paint type, such as spray paint or another available format, the corresponding SDS can be found in the SDS library for that product.
If you are comparing formats, review the SDS for each product type you are considering to ensure it meets your handling and compliance requirements.
Yes. Pantone PMS 2597 U is commonly used for prototypes and concept models where visual brand alignment is the goal. It provides a clear color target for evaluating how the color will read on a specific form, scale, and substrate.
For critical reviews or approvals, consider testing the color on the actual material and under the lighting where it will be seen. This helps identify any perception changes before moving to production.
For Pantone PMS 2597 U spray paint, apply multiple light coats rather than one heavy coat. Light passes help improve uniformity and reduce issues like runs or uneven appearance.
Allow each coat to flash off before applying the next. Highly saturated Pantone colors can require additional coats to achieve even hide, so plan coverage tests as part of your workflow.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 2597 U. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.
The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 2597 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
