Color summary PMS 239 U is a Pantone PMS color specified as a visual reference standard rather than a paint formula, commonly used in brand-facing environments that demand a bold, energetic presence. The color conveys a saturated, expressive, high-impact vibe with strong visual weight and immediate attention.
Color characteristics The color appears mid-to-dark in value with an LRV of 21.06 and reads warm with a pronounced red-magenta tendency. It is highly saturated and visually intense, showing a pink-magenta undertone rather than a neutral red.
Practical application PMS 239 U works well in controlled brand and marketing applications where saturation and visibility are priorities. Because of its high chroma, it may require additional coats for even coverage, and primer choice can influence color clarity. Finish and lighting conditions can noticeably affect perceived brightness, so evaluating a physical sample on the intended substrate is recommended.
Similar colors: PMS 238 U: slightly lighter and a touch more open, with marginally less saturation.MyPerfectColor is the official licensee of Pantone and authorized to reproduce the Pantone™ PMS 239 U color in spray paint and other paints.

Pantone PMS 239 U is a Pantone color reference, not a paint brand formula. Most paint manufacturers have their own color systems, so a direct conversion to another brand's color is rarely exact. This is especially true for vivid and highly saturated Pantone colors like PMS 239 U, where small formulation differences can be visually noticeable.
If your project requires brand accuracy, PMS 239 U should be treated as the visual target. Expect a close visual match rather than a mathematically exact equivalent, and consider approving a physical sample when color acceptance is critical.
The Pantone PMS 239 U reference defines the color only, not where or how the paint will be used. When ordering PMS 239 U, you should choose the paint type based on exposure conditions rather than the color itself.
For indoor brand displays, signage, or exhibits, interior-rated paints are typically appropriate. For outdoor installations or components exposed to weather and UV, an exterior-rated paint should be selected. Choosing the correct paint type helps ensure durability while maintaining the intended visual match to PMS 239 U.
Finish and sheen can significantly change how Pantone PMS 239 U looks once applied. Gloss finishes tend to make this color appear brighter and more saturated, especially under strong lighting. Satin or semi-gloss finishes often balance color intensity with reduced glare, while matte finishes can slightly soften the perceived brightness.
Because PMS 239 U is a strong, saturated hue, finish choice can influence brand perception. For high-visibility brand applications, it is often advisable to evaluate the color in the intended finish before final production.
Whether a primer is needed for Pantone PMS 239 U depends on the substrate, paint type, and exposure conditions. Highly saturated colors like PMS 239 U may benefit from a primer to improve coverage and color uniformity, especially on raw, porous, or previously dark surfaces.
Using a suitable primer can reduce the number of finish coats required and help achieve a more consistent visual match. If you are unsure, confirming primer recommendations before ordering can help avoid unexpected appearance issues.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 239 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
