PMS 1805 U is a Pantone PMS color defined as a standardized visual reference rather than a paint formula. It appears as a deep, warm red with a bold, grounded presence that reads as dense and substantial in branded applications.

The color has a low Light Reflectance Value (LRV 11.26), giving it a dark appearance. It leans warm with an earthy red undertone, shows high saturation, and maintains visual depth without the sharpness of brighter reds.

This color is well suited to branded displays, signage, and architectural features where a serious, authoritative red is required. Due to its darkness and saturation, careful surface preparation, appropriate priming, and attention to lighting and finish can help ensure even coverage and accurate appearance.

Similar colors:
PMS 1805 C: slightly cleaner and more vivid, with higher visual clarity than the U version.
PMS 187 U: darker and cooler, with a deeper crimson character.
PMS 201 U: darker and more subdued, with reduced saturation and visual intensity.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 1805 U

How will different finishes change the appearance of Pantone PMS 1805 U?

Pantone PMS 1805 U is a saturated red-brown tone, and finish choice will affect how it is perceived. Gloss finishes reflect more light, which can make PMS 1805 U appear deeper and more saturated. Satin or semi-gloss finishes tend to balance color richness with reduced glare. Matte finishes absorb more light, which can make the same color look slightly darker or flatter.

If visual brand impact matters, evaluate PMS 1805 U in the actual finish and lighting where it will be used. The Pantone code defines the color target, but finish and viewing conditions influence the final appearance.

What is the typical production lead time for paint matched to Pantone PMS 1805 U?

Paint matched to Pantone PMS 1805 U is made to order rather than pulled from stock. Production lead time depends on the product format you choose, such as spray paint versus bottled paint, and current production volume.

Most Pantone-matched paint orders require several business days before shipping. If your project has a fixed marketing or installation deadline, plan for production time in addition to shipping.

Is Pantone PMS 1805 U suitable for prototypes and concept models?

Yes. Pantone PMS 1805 U is commonly used for prototypes and concept models where visual brand alignment is required. The Pantone PMS code acts as a shared color reference so designers, fabricators, and stakeholders are aligned on the intended appearance.

For prototype workflows, it is often best to test PMS 1805 U on the actual substrate and finish being used. This helps confirm coverage, saturation, and overall appearance before moving into full production.

What product formats are available for Pantone PMS 1805 U, and how do I choose?

Pantone PMS 1805 U is available as custom spray paint and other paint formats for branding and display applications. Common options include spray paint for even coverage on fabricated parts, paint pens for controlled marking, and brush-in-cap bottles for small components or detail work.

Choose the format based on how the color will be applied, the size of the surface, and the level of finish control required. The Pantone code defines the color target, but the application method affects the final result.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 1805 U?

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 1805 U for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
