Color summary

PMS 1245 U is a Pantone PMS color used as a standardized visual reference for consistent color communication across vendors and materials. It presents a warm, energetic golden yellow character that reads more substantial than pale or lemon-toned yellows.

Color characteristics

The color appears mid-light with an LRV of 32.81 and carries a clearly warm yellow hue. It is highly saturated and visually strong, with a subtle orange-gold undertone that adds depth and visual weight.

Practical application

PMS 1245 U performs well in applications that require strong visibility and clear brand recognition, including signage, displays, and branded components. Its saturation can lower hide, so additional coats or a light or tinted primer may be helpful, especially over darker surfaces.

Finish choice and lighting conditions can significantly affect how bright and intense the color appears. Reviewing a physical sample in the intended lighting and finish helps confirm expectations before full application.

Similar colors:
PMS 123 U: lighter and brighter, with a more open yellow appearance.
PMS 124 U: slightly lighter and less saturated, with reduced golden depth.
PMS 7406 U: darker and more orange-leaning, with increased warmth and weight.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 1245 U

What does ordering a Pantone PMS 1245 U paint match actually mean?

Ordering a Pantone PMS 1245 U paint match means the paint is mixed to visually match the Pantone PMS 1245 U color reference. Pantone PMS is a standardized color target used to communicate color, not a paint formula, coating process, or finish specification.

The match is judged by appearance against the Pantone reference, typically under controlled lighting. The final look can vary based on paint type, sheen, and the material you apply it to. If your project requires formal brand approval or will be used across multiple materials, evaluating a sample on the actual substrate is recommended before full production.

Why can PMS 1245 U look different on plastic, metal, or wood?

PMS 1245 U can appear different across materials because each substrate absorbs and reflects light differently. Surface texture, porosity, and reflectivity all influence how the color is perceived.

Even with the same paint and color target, plastic, metal, and wood can show noticeable variation. For brand-critical projects or multi-material builds, it is best to view PMS 1245 U on each actual material under the lighting where it will be used.

How should PMS 1245 U spray paint be applied for consistent color?

For PMS 1245 U spray paint, apply multiple light coats rather than one heavy coat. Light passes help build color evenly and reduce the risk of streaking, runs, or uneven hide.

Allow each coat to flash and settle before applying the next. Rushing the process can affect both appearance and coverage, especially with saturated Pantone colors that may require extra coats for uniform results.

How do I choose the right paint type for PMS 1245 U for interior or exterior use?

Choosing a paint type for PMS 1245 U depends on where and how the painted item will be used. Interior applications typically prioritize appearance and finish, while exterior applications require coatings designed to handle weather and UV exposure.

The Pantone color target stays the same, but the paint chemistry should match the environment. Select the paint type based on exposure and performance needs, and confirm appearance with a sample when the project is highly visible or brand critical.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 1245 U?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 1245 U depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 1245 U for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 1245 U to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 1245 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
