Ordering a Pantone PMS 1245 U paint match means the paint is mixed to visually match the Pantone PMS 1245 U color reference. Pantone PMS is a standardized color target used to communicate color, not a paint formula, coating process, or finish specification.

The match is judged by appearance against the Pantone reference, typically under controlled lighting. The final look can vary based on paint type, sheen, and the material you apply it to. If your project requires formal brand approval or will be used across multiple materials, evaluating a sample on the actual substrate is recommended before full production.

PMS 1245 U can appear different across materials because each substrate absorbs and reflects light differently. Surface texture, porosity, and reflectivity all influence how the color is perceived.

Even with the same paint and color target, plastic, metal, and wood can show noticeable variation. For brand-critical projects or multi-material builds, it is best to view PMS 1245 U on each actual material under the lighting where it will be used.

For PMS 1245 U spray paint, apply multiple light coats rather than one heavy coat. Light passes help build color evenly and reduce the risk of streaking, runs, or uneven hide.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
