PMS 7406 U is a Pantone PMS color specified as a bright, energetic yellow-orange. Within brand and marketing contexts, it conveys warmth, immediacy, and strong visual presence with a bold, attention-forward character.
The color presents as mid-light with an LRV of 53.23 and reads clearly warm, leaning toward yellow-orange. It is highly saturated with a clean yellow undertone, giving it strong chroma and minimal earthiness.
PMS 7406 U works well where strong color recognition and visual emphasis are required, such as branded displays, signage, and experiential elements. Because of its high saturation, it may require additional coats for uniform coverage, and priming and lighting evaluation can help achieve the intended appearance.
Similar colors:
PMS 7405 U: slightly lighter and more yellow, with a softer visual intensity.
PMS 7407 U: darker and more orange, with increased depth and weight.
PMS 123 U: more yellow and less orange, appearing brighter but less warm.

Pantone PMS 7406 U is a Pantone Matching System reference color often specified in brand standards for signs, displays, and exhibit elements. In these contexts, the Pantone code defines the visual target rather than a specific paint formula.
When ordering paint matched to PMS 7406 U, the goal is visual alignment to the Pantone reference under expected viewing conditions. Because fabricated elements may use different substrates and finishes, it is best to evaluate the color on the actual material and under the installed lighting before committing to full production.
Yes. For brand approval workflows, ordering a small sample of Pantone PMS 7406 U is strongly recommended before producing a full run. Sampling allows stakeholders to confirm appearance on the real substrate, with the chosen finish, and under the lighting where the sign or display will be used.
This step helps catch issues related to sheen, coverage, or perceived brightness early, which is especially important for vivid Pantone colors. Using a physical sample for signoff reduces the risk of rework on large or high-visibility installations.
Paint matched to Pantone PMS 7406 U is produced to visually match the Pantone reference, but small batch-to-batch variation is normal. To keep results consistent across reorders, use the same product type, finish or sheen, and application method each time.
It also helps to keep an approved physical sample from an earlier order and use it as a comparison target for future runs. This approach supports consistent brand appearance across multiple signs, displays, or exhibit components.
Paint matched to Pantone PMS 7406 U is made to order rather than pulled from stock. Production lead time can vary based on the paint format selected, the finish, and current production volume.
For projects with fixed installation or marketing deadlines, plan ahead and allow time for sampling, approval, and final production. Ordering early helps ensure the color is ready when your sign, display, or exhibit build is scheduled.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 7406 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
