PMS 7712 C, part of the Pantone Matching System, is a distinctly saturated teal blue with a cool and vivid appearance. The color is frequently characterized as bold, contemporary, and visually assertive, often carrying a technical or energetic vibe. With its relatively low light reflectance value (LRV 19.14), this color reads as medium-dark in typical applications. This shade is often selected within industrial design, display fabrication, and marketing fields where strong and consistent visual identity is required.

PMS 7712 C appears as a medium-dark blue-teal; it has an LRV of 19.14. The color has a strong cool bias due to its prominent blue undertone. PMS 7712 C is highly saturated, resulting in impactful visual presence. The undertone is a noticeable blue-green, which influences its behavior in different lighting. The color may show finish sensitivity, with gloss finishes accentuating vibrancy and matte finishes appearing slightly muted.

PMS 7712 C performs well in settings where a dramatic, brand-forward teal blue is needed, especially for signage, displays, and prototype builds. Low LRV means the color can appear quite deep, especially in low light; testing in intended lighting and finish is recommended. Highly saturated colors such as this may require careful surface preparation and additional coats for uniform coverage. Compared to less saturated blue-teal hues, PMS 7712 C is more vivid and may shift perceptibly with lighting or finish changes.

PMS 3145 C – Leaning darker and less saturated, yielding a more subdued appearance.

PMS 7468 C – Cooler, with increased blue content and reduced green, offering a more distinctly blue hue.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7712 C

Why does Pantone PMS 7712 C not have an exact match in other major paint brands?

Pantone PMS 7712 C is a unique, highly saturated teal blue developed by Pantone for consistent use in brand applications. Most paint manufacturers create their own distinct color collections, and these do not include direct equivalents for Pantone codes. Vivid colors like PMS 7712 C are especially difficult to reproduce exactly because differences in colorant systems, resin bases, and finish options cause visible shifts. For critical projects requiring brand-accurate results, it is important to order paint matched specifically to the Pantone PMS 7712 C code instead of seeking a generic alternative from another brand.

What should I know before ordering Pantone PMS 7712 C paint since it is custom made?

Pantone PMS 7712 C paint is custom mixed to your order, including your selected format and sheen. Because of this, orders cannot be easily changed or returned once production begins. Double-check that you have selected the correct product type, finish, and amount before placing your order. If you are unsure about appearance under your lighting or on your surface, consider ordering a sample first. Careful review up front can help ensure your project meets brand standards without costly revisions.

How do I make sure I am ordering the correct Pantone color for PMS 7712 C?

When specifying Pantone PMS 7712 C, always use both the full Pantone code and any letter suffix, such as the ''C'' for coated. The code defines the precise color standard and is more reliable than a color name alone, since names can be similar or abbreviated in different contexts. Carefully confirm the exact code provided by your brand or design guideline and match it when ordering paint to avoid incorrect results.

Does Pantone PMS 7712 C require special preparation for good coverage?

Pantone PMS 7712 C is a bold, saturated teal blue and may need extra preparation to achieve even coverage. Highly chromatic colors like this often benefit from a neutral or tinted undercoat to help the color look consistent. Plan on applying multiple coats, especially over light or uneven surfaces. Testing the paint system and undercoat in your actual environment is the best way to confirm results before full application, supporting strong brand consistency for displays and marketing elements.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7712 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 7712 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 7712 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
