Pantone® PMS 7468 C. Paint And Spray Paint. MyPerfectColor is the official licensee of Pantone and authorized to reproduce the Pantone Matching System colors in spray paint and other paints.

PMS 7468 C from the Pantone PMS collection is a saturated, cool blue suited for applications where visual clarity and brand presence are essential. The color’s vibe is technical, assertive, vivid, confident, and contemporary, making it appropriate for identity systems that require a blue with strong chromatic impact and low light reflectance.

- PMS 7468 C appears as a deep, saturated blue with low light reflectance (LRV 13.84), giving it a visually “dark” appearance.
- The color has a distinctly cool tendency, with no perceptible warmth under typical lighting.
- The saturation is high, resulting in an intense, commanding visual quality on most substrates.
- Undertones are slightly bluish-violet due to the hue position; there is no pronounced green or red influence.
- PMS 7468 C may exhibit finish sensitivity, appearing richer in gloss or semi-gloss, and slightly muted in matte finishes.

PMS 7468 C works well for branded elements where a strong, contemporary blue is specified, particularly for displays, exhibit components, retail activations, and prototypes requiring vivid color accuracy. Users should consider that dark, saturated blues like PMS 7468 C can shift in appearance based on lighting and finish; for best results, samples should be viewed under the intended illumination and gloss level. Coverage may require extra coats, especially on light or porous substrates, to achieve uniform chromatic intensity relative to other selections in the blue spectrum.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 294 C: Slightly darker and even more neutral, often read as a classic “navy.”
  • PMS 286 C: Lighter and brighter, with increased chroma and a more pronounced visual impact.
  • PMS 7686 C: Marginally lighter and less saturated, with a subtle tilt toward a more neutral blue.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7468 C

What is the difference between the Pantone name and code when ordering PMS 7468 C paint, and how do I make sure I get the right product?

PMS 7468 C refers to both the color name and code in the Pantone Matching System, but the most reliable way to specify this color for ordering is to use the exact code, including the suffix 'C' which stands for 'Coated.' When ordering paint for PMS 7468 C, always provide the entire code as written in your brand standard or artwork requirements. Omitting the 'C' or choosing an incorrect suffix can result in receiving a different shade or finish. Double-check the code in your specifications to avoid confusion and ensure visual consistency across printed and painted brand materials.

How much area does a spray can of PMS 7468 C cover, and how do I estimate how many cans I need?

Each spray can of PMS 7468 C typically covers about 20 to 25 square feet with one coat on a smooth, nonporous surface. However, because PMS 7468 C is a deep, saturated blue, multiple coats may be needed to achieve full color intensity and uniformity, especially over light or porous substrates. When estimating, calculate the total surface area, divide by the expected coverage per can, and multiply by the number of coats you plan to apply. Always consider factors like surface texture, color of the base substrate, and your project's gloss/finish requirements, as these will impact the amount of material required. Ordering slightly more than your minimum estimate is recommended to allow for touch-ups and unforeseen needs.

What should I consider when using PMS 7468 C in a pop-up or retail brand environment?

When applying PMS 7468 C in retail or pop-up environments, plan for the demands of high-visibility, branded installations. Evaluate paint samples in the actual lighting and gloss level before full application, since this saturated blue color can appear different under various conditions. Select a paint and finish that offer durability and maintain the intended brand appearance, as gloss and lighting strongly influence the perceived depth and vibrancy of PMS 7468 C. For large installations or permanent locations, request a sample to confirm that the color aligns with brand expectations before committing to a full rollout. Always follow preparation and application guidance for consistent results across all components.

How do I achieve a uniform appearance when applying PMS 7468 C over large areas?

To maintain consistent and uniform color when applying PMS 7468 C over a large area, use the same application method and technique throughout the project. Apply paint in planned sections, keeping a wet edge to avoid overlap lines or patchiness. Because PMS 7468 C is highly saturated with low reflectance, uniform coverage often requires multiple thin coats rather than attempting to cover in a single pass. Use a high-quality primer if recommended for the substrate, and make sure all surface preparation is consistent. Assess the finish under the intended lighting before moving on to additional sections, adjusting technique as needed to ensure the final result supports your brand standards.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7468 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 7468 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 7468 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
