PMS 7700 C from the Pantone PMS collection is a deep, engaging blue with a definitive cool cast. Its overall vibe is technical, assertive, stable, and refined, appropriate for contexts seeking strong, memorable color presence. The low light reflectance value (LRV 9.3) signals a decidedly dark tone, which contributes to its use in visual branding and high-contrast presentations.
- PMS 7700 C appears notably dark, with low visible brightness (LRV 9.3).
- The color displays a cool tendency, reading cleanly blue without green or purple dominance.
- This color presents moderate to high saturation, supporting impactful, unmuted brand visuals.
- The undertone is a pure, balanced blue rather than teal or cyan.
- PMS 7700 C is sensitive to finish; gloss finishes amplify saturation and depth, while matte finishes may soften its intensity.
PMS 7700 C performs well as a brand or accent color in environments demanding a strong blue statement. It is effective under controlled lighting and is frequently specified for components where visual alignment with digital and print assets matters. Due to its low LRV and saturation, coverage may require additional coats, especially over lighter substrates. Its appearance can shift depending on finish and surrounding colors; sample the color in the intended lighting and sheen for accurate evaluation. Compared to other dark blues, PMS 7700 C maintains a clean, non-muted presence while avoiding the purple or green shifts seen in some alternatives.

When comparing PMS 7700 C samples for brand approval, view all samples under consistent lighting to minimize perceptual shifts. Use the same substrate and finish that will be used in production, as PMS 7700 C is sensitive to surface gloss and material. Always allow coatings to fully dry and cure before making a final color judgment, as wet paint or uncured layers can appear darker or glossier than the finished product. These steps help confirm that the approved color reflects the true visual intent of PMS 7700 C.
The need for a primer with PMS 7700 C depends on your substrate and the paint type. Primers are typically recommended when painting over bare metal, wood, plastic, or other porous or slick surfaces to ensure adhesion and color uniformity. For PMS 7700 C, which is a dark and saturated blue, primer use also helps maintain color consistency and may reduce the number of coats needed, especially over light substrates. Review the guidance for your specific paint system and substrate to determine primer requirements for your application.
PMS 7700 C is a brand-standard color that ensures consistent visual identity across various fabricated elements such as signs, displays, and exhibits. Using a Pantone-matched paint like PMS 7700 C allows brand and fabrication teams to meet corporate color requirements in marketing, retail, or event environments. To confirm that the color performs as intended, it is practical to sample PMS 7700 C on the actual material and finish used in your project under the expected lighting conditions. This approach helps avoid surprises during installation and ensures strong brand presence.
PMS 7700 C has moderate to high saturation and a low light reflectance value, which means coverage may require additional coats, especially over light or contrasting substrates. To improve uniformity and minimize the number of topcoats needed, consider using a compatible undercoat in a neutral gray or a color close to PMS 7700 C. Planning for multiple coats helps achieve full depth and consistency, supporting the accurate display of this deep blue in branding applications.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 7700 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
