PMS 2945 C is a standardized blue from the Pantone PMS collection, used primarily in contexts where color consistency and brand recognition are operational requirements. The color is vivid, technical, and commanding, with a cool tone and strong presence. The overall vibe is assertive, clean, and professional, suiting environments that demand clear visual communication and instant recognition.

- PMS 2945 C appears distinctly dark, with a low measured light reflectance value (LRV 7.09). - The color is definitively cool, positioned within the blue spectrum and lacking perceptible warmth. - Saturation is high, presenting a vivid and intense chromatic impression. - The undertone trends toward a pure blue, with minimal green or violet influence evident in most viewing conditions. - The color may demonstrate noticeable finish sensitivity; gloss or satin finishes can amplify its depth and intensity, while matte finishes will temper its visual impact.

PMS 2945 C works well for branding and environmental displays where a powerful, recognizable blue is needed. For accurate reproduction, control for finish (gloss, satin, matte) and view in intended lighting conditions, as shifts in sheen and illumination can noticeably alter perception of color depth and intensity. As a highly saturated, dark blue, PMS 2945 C typically offers strong visual contrast but may require additional coats for uniform opacity, especially over light or high-contrast substrates. When evaluating potential substitutes or near matches, expect PMS 2945 C to appear cooler and more saturated than typical navy or basic corporate blues.

Similar colors:
PMS 2935 C – Similar in saturation but appears lighter and brighter, with a stronger visual impact in direct light.

PMS 2955 C – Darker and slightly more muted, resulting in a subtler and less chromatic blue.

PMS 293 C – Brighter and noticeably lighter, trending toward a primary blue with increased brightness.

PMS 301 C – Slightly greener and deeper, offering a more teal-leaning appearance compared to the more neutral blue of 2945 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2945 C

How can lighting and viewing conditions affect how PMS 2945 C appears in brand or display applications?

PMS 2945 C is a highly saturated, cool blue that can look noticeably different under varying lighting. Light quality (such as daylight, LED, or fluorescent) can shift the color's depth and intensity. For critical brand or marketing work, always evaluate PMS 2945 C samples in the same lighting and conditions you expect for final display. This helps ensure correct brand appearance and reduces surprises after installation.

If I am trying to match an existing finish or do a touch-up, should I order PMS 2945 C in paint?

PMS 2945 C paint is intended for brand color reproduction for new components or displays, not for matching to an existing surface. For precise touch-up or field repair, a Pantone code is not enough, since the original finish, substrate, and aging can all affect appearance. The correct approach is to send a physical part or sample for a custom match if you require touch-up grade results or a direct match to an existing installation.

What exactly am I ordering when I choose PMS 2945 C in paint?

When you order PMS 2945 C in paint, you are requesting a paint mixed to visually match the PMS 2945 C color target as defined by the Pantone Matching System. This is a visual reference for color, not a formula or a guarantee of a specific manufacturing process, brand, or finish type. Actual results can vary depending on substrate, finish, and lighting, so always verify that a standard Pantone match suits your project requirements.

When is it appropriate to order a standard PMS 2945 C paint match for my project?

Ordering a standard PMS 2945 C paint match is appropriate for branding, marketing installations, displays, exhibits, signage, and prototypes where the Pantone color target is the reference standard. This approach is ideal when visual brand accuracy on new parts or surfaces is your main priority. If your project involves matching to existing finishes or multi-material assemblies, consider reviewing a physical sample before large-scale commits.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 2945 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 2945 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 2945 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
