PMS 7693 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection and is widely recognized in the marketing, brand specification, and display fabrication fields. The color presents as deep, assertive, technical, stable, and cool. Its character is distinct among blues due to its substantial darkness, rich chromatic presence, and straightforward application for brand-critical projects.

PMS 7693 C appears very dark, with a low LRV of 6.07 indicating a strong absorbing quality. The color shows a distinctly cool tendency, with its hue positioned in the blue spectrum. PMS 7693 C exhibits high saturation, delivering a vivid and pronounced blue appearance. The undertone is clear and true-blue, with minimal green or red influence. The color can be sensitive to gloss and sheen, potentially appearing richer in gloss finishes and flatter in matte applications.

PMS 7693 C works well in scenarios where a recognizable, saturated blue is needed to communicate brand integrity and visual strength, including signage, displays, and marketing installations. It is important to consider lighting conditions, as darker blues can appear nearly black under low light and may shift in appearance depending on finish. Extra surface preparation and multiple coats may be required to achieve full coverage due to the depth and saturation of the pigment. Compared to other saturated blues, PMS 7693 C is darker and less prone to shifting toward teal or purple under typical lighting.

Similar colors:
PMS 295 C: Similar but darker and more muted, providing a more subdued blue option.

PMS 7687 C: Lighter and slightly brighter, with less visual weight.

PMS 294 C: Just slightly lighter and less saturated, often used as an alternative for corporate blues.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7693 C

How difficult is it to achieve an accurate match to Pantone PMS 7693 C in paint, and what challenges should I be aware of?

PMS 7693 C is a deep, saturated blue from the Pantone PMS system. Matching this color in paint can be challenging due to its high chroma and low light reflectance value. Factors like material, texture, lighting, and the finish (matte or gloss) can all influence how the color is perceived. MyPerfectColor uses color standards and precise formulation methods to target PMS 7693 C as closely as possible, but minor shifts can occur depending on the substrate and viewing conditions. It is always recommended to sample the color on your actual project material if critical visual alignment is needed.

What should I consider regarding coverage and undercoat choice when using PMS 7693 C paint?

PMS 7693 C is a very dark and saturated blue, which can mean lower hide compared to more muted colors. Plan for at least two coats to achieve full, even coverage, especially over lighter or highly contrasting surfaces. For best results, consider using a deep gray or tinted undercoat matched to the blue family before applying PMS 7693 C. Proper surface prep and adequate dry time between coats will help ensure the painted surface delivers the intended color intensity and visual consistency for brand applications.

Why is PMS 7693 C commonly specified for signage and display fabrication projects?

PMS 7693 C is often specified because Pantone PMS colors provide a recognized reference point for brand standards across marketing, signage, and displays. Using the exact PMS 7693 C specification helps ensure consistent visual identity and brand impact. In display fabrication, this allows teams and vendors to communicate color targets precisely, although appearance may still shift depending on material, lighting, and coating type. Always verify PMS 7693 C on the actual substrate to confirm it meets approval requirements for your project.

Should I order PMS 7693 C paint in a matte or gloss finish for my brand project?

The finish you select for PMS 7693 C, either matte or gloss, will affect how the color appears. Gloss finishes tend to make colors look deeper and more vibrant, emphasizing the saturated blue character of PMS 7693 C, but can produce glare under direct lighting. Matte finishes reduce glare and may help with readability up close, though the color may appear slightly lighter or less intense. Consider the viewing distance, lighting conditions, and whether visual punch or reduced glare is more important for your application. Sampling both finishes in project conditions can support making the right decision.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7693 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
