PMS 7697 C is part of the Pantone PMS system, widely used for standardized color communication in branding and manufacturing. This color is recognized for its deep, muted blue appearance, conveying a professional and understated vibe. It is frequently selected for applications where a grounded, stable, and business-oriented blue is needed.

PMS 7697 C appears distinctly dark, with a low light reflectance value (LRV) of 21.48. The color has a cool temperature, leaning towards a blue base with a subtle purple undertone. PMS 7697 C shows moderate saturation; it is neither overly vivid nor dulled, making it effective for sophisticated branding environments. This color carries slight dusky undertones, contributing to its less saturated and more composed presence. PMS 7697 C can display notable shifts in appearance based on finish: gloss finishes can increase vibrancy, while matte finishes emphasize subtlety.

PMS 7697 C works well where a brand or project requires a deep blue that is professional but not overly bold. When evaluating this color, check appearance under the intended lighting and on the actual substrate, as it may appear darker or slightly more muted in low-light or matte finishes. Surface preparation and uniform priming help ensure consistent color presentation, especially since lower-luminosity blues can exaggerate texture or application inconsistencies. PMS 7697 C maintains a more refined and subdued effect compared to more chromatic or vibrant blues in the Pantone range.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7697 C

Why should I choose a licensed source for Pantone PMS 7697 C paint?

Pantone PMS 7697 C is a licensed color standard, which means accurate reproduction in paint requires official authorization. MyPerfectColor is an official Pantone licensee, ensuring that PMS 7697 C is matched using Pantone's specifications. Using a licensed source helps you achieve consistent brand color results and meet brand standards. Unlicensed reproductions may not match the Pantone standard and could risk approval for branding, display, or marketing projects.

How do I choose the right paint type for Pantone PMS 7697 C for interior or exterior use?

When specifying Pantone PMS 7697 C for a project, select the paint type based on whether the application is indoors or outdoors. For indoor branding, displays, or fixtures, use interior-grade paints, which are formulated for ease of application and color consistency in controlled environments. For outdoor signage or installations exposed to weather, choose exterior-grade paint for better durability and resistance. If you are unsure which format to select, consider the environmental exposure and confirm with your production team to ensure PMS 7697 C performs as intended in your setting.

What does it mean to order a Pantone PMS 7697 C paint match?

Ordering a Pantone PMS 7697 C paint match means you are requesting paint that visually matches the standardized Pantone color reference. This ensures you target the intended brand color for your visual application. It does not specify the coating formula, application process, or final finish. Factors like gloss, substrate, and lighting may influence how PMS 7697 C appears in your environment. Always check the color appearance on your substrate under project lighting for confirmation.

Are there special considerations when applying Pantone PMS 7697 C paint to plastics?

Yes, when applying Pantone PMS 7697 C to plastic or low-surface-energy substrates, proper preparation is important for adhesion. Different plastics may require special primers or surface treatments before painting. It is recommended to test PMS 7697 C paint on a sample of your actual plastic material to confirm adhesion and color appearance before moving to full production. This helps ensure your finished project delivers brand consistency and durability.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7697 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
