PMS 7687 C is a standardized color in the Pantone Matching System (Pantone PMS collection). It is a distinct, bold blue with a professional, technical, and modern character. Frequently used for branding, displays, and environments demanding consistent and recognizable color reproduction, this color conveys a decisive, strong, and visually engaging effect.

- PMS 7687 C presents as a dark blue with low light reflectance (LRV 5.99). - The color exhibits a cool undertone, placing it on the blue-violet segment of the spectrum. - It is highly saturated, resulting in strong color presence and vibrancy. - The undertone shows a slight violet influence, contributing to its depth and intensity. - The color’s perception may shift based on finish and lighting, with glossier surfaces increasing its vibrancy and matte finishes imparting a more subdued appearance.

- PMS 7687 C is often used in brand identity systems for corporations seeking a professional or technological motif. - The color is specified for trade show displays, signage, and product prototypes where visual consistency with Pantone standards is required.

This color is chosen when a bold, memorable blue is needed and brand or specification match is critical. To ensure accuracy, always validate PMS 7687 C with both a physical Pantone reference and the intended paint finish under project lighting. Coverage can be challenging, as saturated deep blues may require multiple coats for full opacity. The color’s appearance varies significantly with gloss level and viewing conditions. When comparing to similar blues, PMS 7687 C will stand out as darker and more vivid, with a cooler overall character.

PMS 293 C is a brighter blue, appearing less dark and slightly less violet in comparison.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7687 C

How durable is PMS 7687 C spray paint for brand and display applications?

The durability of PMS 7687 C spray paint depends on the type of surface, preparation quality, topcoat choices, and how much exposure it will have to abrasion, sunlight, and moisture. For maximum durability on displays or branded items, make sure the substrate is clean and properly primed, and consider using a compatible clear topcoat if your project demands resistance to handling, fading, or environmental stress. For long-term or exposed installations, select a paint type and protection level that match the expected use conditions rather than only prioritizing color match.

Can I use PMS 7687 C paint for both interior and exterior brand displays?

PMS 7687 C paint can be matched in different paint types for either interior or exterior use. For indoor signage, event displays, or prototypes, a standard interior-grade paint or spray paint is typically suitable. For outdoor applications, choose an exterior-rated paint to withstand weather, sunlight, and temperature changes. Always select the correct paint type for your environment to ensure both color fidelity and appropriate performance over the life of your installation.

How do I make sure I order PMS 7687 C and not a similar Pantone blue?

To avoid confusion and ensure you receive the correct color, always specify PMS 7687 C by both its full code and any suffix, such as 'C' for coated. Relying only on the 'name' or visual description can lead to mismatches, especially since Pantone offers several similar blues. Double-check the code against your physical Pantone reference and confirm it matches your brand or project requirements before ordering.

What application technique gives the best finish when spraying PMS 7687 C?

PMS 7687 C is a deep, saturated color that often covers better and appears more consistent when applied in several light coats rather than one heavy coat. Allow each coat to dry before applying the next to achieve the most even and vibrant color. This method helps minimize runs, ensures uniform coverage, and produces the best brand-accurate appearance for displays and marketing assets.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7687 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 7687 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Can I use the Pantone PMS 7687 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 7687 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
