PMS 7691 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection and is widely used for numeric brand specification and consistent visual reproduction across substrates. The color presents a deep, assertive blue with a technical, businesslike, and modern vibe. Its appearance is controlled and saturated, with a cool undertone that maintains visual integrity in varied environments, making it conducive to applications demanding high color accuracy and brand trust.

PMS 7691 C appears dark in finished applications, with a low measured LRV of 11.0. The color demonstrates a cool temperature, with undertones that can lean toward blue-violet under some lighting conditions. PMS 7691 C exhibits strong saturation, resulting in a pronounced presence on most surfaces. The color presents a clean, controlled blue chroma, without significant green or teal influence. PMS 7691 C can exhibit shifts in perceived richness and depth depending on gloss level; higher-gloss finishes may intensify its saturation. This color is sensitive to lighting, with artificial or warm light potentially muting its cooler qualities.

PMS 7691 C works effectively in applications where a strong, recognizable blue is specified for consistent brand communication. For accurate results, evaluate sample applications in the targeted lighting and finish environment, as both can affect perceived depth and hue. Low LRV contributes to boldness but may require additional coats for uniformity, especially on lighter substrates. Compared to similar colors, PMS 7691 C offers a more saturated and deeper blue appearance, maintaining clarity without the muted or subdued character common in less chromatic blues.

Similar colors:
PMS 7690 C – Slightly lighter and less saturated, resulting in a less intense visual impact.

PMS 7687 C – A brighter, more vivid blue that appears lighter and more energetic than PMS 7691 C.

PMS 295 C – Darker and more neutral, showing less chroma and a more reserved presence.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7691 C

How is Pantone PMS 7691 C used in sign, display, and exhibit fabrication?

Pantone PMS 7691 C is a common brand-standard color for signage, displays, and exhibit components where visual consistency and brand communication are priorities. Specifying PMS 7691 C allows different vendors and fabricators to align on a uniform color target. Because appearance can shift based on substrate and lighting, evaluating samples of PMS 7691 C on the actual fabrication material and in the environment where the finished piece will be displayed is recommended before proceeding with production.

How should I use samples of PMS 7691 C in a brand approval workflow?

For PMS 7691 C, it is best practice to order a physical sample in the planned finish and substrate before full production. This allows stakeholders to review the exact color result under installed lighting and on the actual material. Approving PMS 7691 C by sample helps prevent issues with color perception or mismatch and ensures brand requirements are fully met for high-visibility projects such as signage, displays, or exhibit elements.

What should I expect in terms of durability when using PMS 7691 C as spray paint?

The durability of PMS 7691 C spray paint depends on the prep work on your substrate, the paint formulation, and whether a protective topcoat is applied. For projects exposed to weather or heavy handling, select a paint type suited to the exposure conditions and consider adding a clear protective topcoat. Proper surface prep is critical for maximizing adhesion and longevity of the PMS 7691 C color finish in both interior and exterior brand-facing applications.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7691 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
