PMS 7682 C (Pantone PMS system) is a medium-dark blue with a balanced, professional character. The color’s overall vibe is corporate, clean, stable, and technical, with a somewhat muted but distinctly blue presence. Its moderate lightness and cool undertone make it practical for visual identity work where clarity and legibility are important.

PMS 7682 C appears moderately dark, with an LRV of 23.63 indicating low reflectance and substantial depth. The color trends cool, without marked warmth, positioning it firmly in the blue family. PMS 7682 C exhibits moderate saturation—neither overly vivid nor notably muted—supporting both visibility and readability. The undertone is true blue with a subtle leaning toward a neutral-cool base, minimizing purple or teal appearance under most lighting. This color can be finish sensitive; gloss finishes tend to enhance saturation and depth, while matte finishes will present the blue as slightly softer and less pronounced.

PMS 7682 C is operationally effective where a stable, professional blue is needed and brand color consistency is important across signage, display, and branded environments. The color maintains clarity and presence under a variety of lighting conditions but can appear slightly deeper in dim or shadowed environments. For critical color matches, assess both substrate and finish, as gloss and lighting will alter both depth and vibrancy. PMS 7682 C tends to hide substrate variations well for a blue in its range, but as with many saturated blues, adequate priming is recommended to ensure even, true color.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7682 C

How do I verify that PMS 7682 C is the exact Pantone code needed for my project?

It is important to confirm that PMS 7682 C is the correct Pantone reference for your project since Pantone PMS colors can have similar codes with different suffixes or series, such as C, U, or M. These suffixes relate to the original reference material or substrate type and may affect the appearance. Check your brand standards, project specification, or documentation to ensure that PMS 7682 C matches the required Pantone color and suffix before ordering to maintain brand consistency and avoid mismatches.

What should I consider about hide and coverage when using PMS 7682 C paint?

PMS 7682 C is a medium-dark blue with moderate saturation, which means it may require more coats for uniform coverage compared to less saturated colors, especially on highly contrasting or uneven substrates. For best results and true color appearance, use a suitable undercoat or primer, particularly if applying over light or variable surfaces. Planning for additional coats and proper surface preparation can help achieve even, brand-accurate results and minimize coverage surprises.

Why can PMS 7682 C look different on multiple materials or surfaces?

The appearance of PMS 7682 C may vary across different substrates due to differences in absorption, texture, and reflectivity. Factors such as gloss level, surface smoothness, and base material all affect how the color is seen in real-world applications. If you need visual consistency on multiple materials, it is recommended to test PMS 7682 C on each intended substrate as part of your evaluation process to confirm that the color appearance meets your brand or project requirements before full production.

Are PMS 7682 C matched paints custom made, and what does that mean for ordering?

PMS 7682 C matched paint is custom made to order to meet the Pantone reference. Because these items are produced specifically for each order, it is important to choose product type, finish, and quantity carefully. Custom-mixed paint may be difficult or impossible to revise or return once produced. Sampling is advised when critical outcomes are required, especially for larger or high-visibility brand applications, to ensure your expectations are met before full production.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7682 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
