PMS 7683 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) color known for its use in marketing, display fabrication, and industrial design where precise color matching is critical. It presents as a deep, professional blue with a subtle cool undertone, low reflectivity, and strong chromatic presence. This color conveys attributes such as controlled, technical, assertive, stable, and vivid, making it suitable for brand environments demanding visual reliability.
- PMS 7683 C appears as a dark blue, with low to moderate light reflectance (LRV 14.96). - The color tends toward a cool hue, clearly blue with a subtle purple influence depending on lighting. - This color shows strong saturation, delivering a visually bold appearance on properly prepared surfaces. - PMS 7683 C displays a subtle undertone that may read slightly purple or bluish-violet in certain viewing conditions. - The color’s appearance can shift noticeably with changes in finish (matte vs. gloss) and under different lighting sources.
PMS 7683 C is suited for brand-facing elements where a consistently deep, assertive blue is required. Expect some variation in perceived chroma and depth depending on gloss level and lighting. This color can appear almost black in dim environments or when applied in high-gloss forms, so sampling under project lighting is essential. Surface preparation must ensure even coverage, as deep, saturated blues like PMS 7683 C may expose priming irregularities or require multiple coats for uniform opacity. Compared to other strong blues, it delivers a slightly cooler, more controlled presence without the brightness of more chromatic or lighter blues.
Similar colors:
PMS 7684 C – Slightly lighter and more vibrant, with a stronger blue character and less purple undertone.
PMS 293 C – Considerably brighter and more chromatic, reading as a more primary blue.
PMS 2756 C – Darker and a touch warmer, trending closer to violet.

When specifying PMS 7683 C for brand displays in pop-ups or retail environments, plan for the effects of lighting and finish. The color can shift in appearance depending on gloss level and the type of lighting used on site. Before a large installation, sample PMS 7683 C on the actual substrate and view it under the installed lighting conditions to confirm you are satisfied with the shade and depth. Deep, saturated blues like PMS 7683 C may appear almost black in low light or glossy finishes and can highlight surface imperfections, so even surface prep is important for visual consistency.
Paint matched to PMS 7683 C is made to order. Typical lead times depend on the product format and current production queue. Spray paints and custom finishes are usually produced in just a few business days, but larger or specialty orders may take longer. For time-sensitive branding or display projects, order early and confirm lead time based on your specific format and quantity requirements.
Deep, saturated blues like PMS 7683 C often require careful planning for coverage. Using a neutral or tinted undercoat can help achieve a more uniform appearance and reduce the number of finish coats needed. For best results on brand environments or installations, expect that multiple coats may be necessary, especially on porous or uneven substrates, to ensure the color is rich and even across all surfaces.
For prototypes or concept models where PMS 7683 C is used to represent your brand color, select the paint format that matches your workflow, such as spray paint or paint pens. Always test PMS 7683 C on your actual substrate and under your evaluation lighting before final review. This ensures you are seeing the true visual effect and can make adjustments if gloss or lighting changes the perceived color.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
