PMS 7681 C from the Pantone PMS collection is a moderately saturated, blue-violet color frequently used in branding programs and design specifications for a controlled, contemporary appearance. The overall vibe is calm, technical, muted, and reliable, supporting visual clarity without drawing excessive attention.

PMS 7681 C appears medium-dark, with a light reflectance value (LRV) of 38.98. The color exhibits a cool overall tendency, with its hue angle centering it firmly in the blue-violet range. This color presents moderate chroma, resulting in noticeable but restrained saturation compared to more vivid blues or purples. The undertone is blue-forward with a subtle violet influence, yielding a neutral to slightly cool impression. The appearance may shift subtly with finish, with higher-gloss sheens increasing visual richness and saturation.

PMS 7681 C is operationally useful where a muted yet identifiable blue is needed, such as in corporate backdrops, signage, or wayfinding systems where clarity and readability are important. It performs consistently in diffuse lighting and on matte or satin finishes, with chromatic subtlety making it adaptable to varied brand palettes. When specifying this color, be mindful that lighting and surface finish can influence perceived depth and coolness; physical sampling in the intended environment is recommended, particularly for critical brand or display usage. In comparison to similar colors, PMS 7681 C keeps a balanced blue-violet tone without leaning overly purple or highly saturated, which enhances its versatility for professional identity applications.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7681 C

How does the finish or sheen affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 7681 C in branding or display applications?

The finish or sheen you select can change how Pantone PMS 7681 C is perceived. Higher-gloss finishes tend to make the color appear more saturated and richer, while matte or satin finishes create a softer, more muted look. For PMS 7681 C, which is a medium, muted blue-violet, a gloss finish may increase the depth and intensity of the color, potentially making it look slightly brighter and cooler. A matte finish will keep the color more subdued and reduce glare, which can help with readability in signage or wayfinding. Always review a physical sample with the intended finish and in the actual lighting to confirm that the color meets your brand visibility requirements.

Why might Pantone PMS 7681 C look different on metal, plastic, or fabric compared to the swatch or digital preview?

The appearance of Pantone PMS 7681 C can vary noticeably between materials like metal, plastic, and fabric due to differences in absorption, surface texture, and reflectivity. A smooth, glossy plastic might display the color as deeper and more vivid, while an uncoated fabric could appear more muted or lighter. The same paint formula can result in a slightly different perceived color on each substrate, even under identical lighting. For brand-critical uses, evaluate the color on the actual material and finish you plan to use before final approval or full production.

How do I pick the right paint type for Pantone PMS 7681 C if my project is outdoors versus indoors?

Choosing the correct paint for Pantone PMS 7681 C depends on the environment. For interior projects, such as displays or signage kept indoors, you can use interior paint formats which are made for stable, controlled environments. For exterior use, select a paint labeled for outdoor durability to help PMS 7681 C resist sunlight, moisture, and weathering over time. The color code PMS 7681 C specifies the target hue, but always match the paint type to your exposure and performance requirements to achieve the best brand-consistent results.

Where can I get the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for a paint product made in Pantone PMS 7681 C?

The SDS is linked to the specific product or paint type, not to the color code itself. To find the correct SDS for PMS 7681 C, first identify the product type you are ordering, such as spray paint or house paint. Then access the SDS library for that product. This ensures you get relevant safety, handling, and compliance information for the exact material you will use in your application with Pantone PMS 7681 C.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7681 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 7681 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 7681 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
