PMS 7670 C from the Pantone PMS collection is a dark, highly saturated blue-violet with a cool undertone and notable richness. The color is visually described as deep, professional, and assertive. It is often perceived as technical, modern, and stable, making it suitable for environments where color identity is visually prominent and distinct. This color’s qualitative position sits between blue and purple on the hue spectrum, with clear coolness and perceptible depth, informed by its low light reflectance (LRV 10.15), which contributes to its saturated, shadowed vibe.

- PMS 7670 C appears distinctly dark due to its low light reflectance value (LRV 10.15).

- The color exhibits a cool temperature, leaning toward the blue side of the blue-violet range.

- The hue demonstrates strong chroma, appearing vibrant and assertive on physical samples.

- PMS 7670 C carries a visible blue-violet undertone, giving it a sense of depth and subtle complexity.

- This color is sensitive to finish; gloss will increase its vibrancy, while matte may soften its perceived depth.

PMS 7670 C is frequently selected for branding, signage, and display components where color accuracy and consistency with Pantone standards are required. It performs best in controlled lighting, as varying light sources can shift its perceived hue and intensity. Due to the color’s high chroma and low lightness, coverage uniformity may require attentive surface preparation and potentially extra coats, particularly over lighter substrates. When specified against similar blue-violet colors, PMS 7670 C stands out for its combination of darkness and vibrancy, appearing more saturated and cooler than less chromatic alternatives.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 7671 C – Slightly lighter and warmer, with more purple tendencies and less visual depth.
  • PMS 7672 C – Marginally more neutral, appearing less saturated and softer under standard lighting.
  • PMS 2685 C – Darker and more intensely blue, with a more dramatic and cooler overall tone.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7670 C

How does surface texture affect how Pantone PMS 7670 C looks on my project?

The surface texture can noticeably impact the appearance of Pantone PMS 7670 C. A smooth, glossy finish will reflect more light, making this dark blue-violet appear more vibrant and saturated. In contrast, a matte or textured surface can soften the depth and lower the perceived brightness, sometimes making PMS 7670 C look even darker or less vivid. For brand-accurate color on visible installations, evaluate samples with the intended finish and texture under your actual lighting conditions.

What should I consider when applying Pantone PMS 7670 C to plastics or low-energy surfaces?

When using Pantone PMS 7670 C paint on plastics or low-energy substrates, always check for adhesion compatibility. Many plastics require a specific primer or surface treatment to ensure the paint bonds properly and delivers consistent color. Because plastic types vary widely, test PMS 7670 C paint on your actual material before production to confirm satisfactory appearance and durability. This helps prevent costly errors and ensures your branded elements reflect the intended Pantone standard.

Why is Pantone PMS 7670 C frequently specified in sign, display, or exhibit fabrication?

Pantone PMS 7670 C is often requested for signs, displays, and exhibits because it provides a standardized, brand-recognized target for color consistency across components. Specifying PMS 7670 C helps ensure that all fabricated elements align with brand guidelines. For best results, it is important to test the color on each substrate and under installation lighting, since both material and lighting can shift how PMS 7670 C is perceived in a brand environment.

What is the recommended way to apply Pantone PMS 7670 C spray paint for best coverage?

For Pantone PMS 7670 C, which is a dark and saturated color, apply several thin coats of spray paint instead of attempting full coverage in one pass. Allow each coat to dry properly before applying the next. This technique helps achieve more even color, minimizes drips, and reduces visible streaks, especially when covering light surfaces. Following this approach improves the professional appearance of PMS 7670 C in high-visibility branded projects.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7670 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 7670 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 7670 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
