PMS 7607 C is part of the Pantone PMS collection, a standardized color system used for consistent color communication across print, product, and environmental media. This color has a grounded, subdued, and professional vibe and is characterized by an understated, warm, and mature presence. It is often selected for use in brand environments where a restrained, organic red with visible coloration but moderate saturation is needed.

PMS 7607 C is considered a medium-dark color, with a relatively low LRV of 23.47, resulting in a substantial but not overwhelming depth. The color tends toward the warm side, with a muted red base and subtle brownish undertones. This color exhibits moderate chroma; it is neither highly saturated nor overly neutralized, retaining recognizable redness with a softened, earthy character. Undertones are distinctly warm and muted, contributing to its approachable and un-intense visual presentation. PMS 7607 C’s perceived richness can vary notably with different finishes, appearing deeper and less reflective in matte or low-gloss applications.

PMS 7607 C works well in applications where a grounded, organic red is desired without the visual intensity of vivid reds. It performs best as a background, accent, or branding color for signage, exhibits, or environments aiming for warmth and approachability rather than primary color saturation. When matching to Pantone standards in paint, always assess the color under intended lighting and finish, as low LRV colors may appear darker or more muted in some scenarios. Thorough substrate prep is important to maintain the consistency of appearance, as lower LRV reds may require additional coats for full coverage compared to lighter or less chromatic colors. The color can shift visually depending on gloss level; matte finishes emphasize its muted quality, while high gloss may slightly increase perceived saturation.

Similar colors:
PMS 7608 C – Similar but darker, with a stronger brown undertone resulting in a deeper, more muted appearance.

PMS 7597 C – Slightly lighter and more chromatic, introducing a clearer, more vivid red aspect.

PMS 7580 C – Cooler and more neutral, with increased gray content and less overt red warmth.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7607 C

What does it mean to order Pantone PMS 7607 C paint? Is it a formula or a color reference?

When you order Pantone PMS 7607 C paint, you are requesting a color that matches the PMS 7607 C standard as defined by Pantone. This code serves as a color communication reference, not a specific formula or process. It identifies the visual target color you want to achieve across different materials and vendors, but it does not specify how the paint is made or the sheen level. Always clarify the finish, substrate, and lighting to ensure the desired visual result for your project.

What basic surface preparation is needed when applying Pantone PMS 7607 C paint?

For best results with Pantone PMS 7607 C paint, begin by cleaning the surface to remove dust, grease, and debris. Degrease if necessary, and use light scuff sanding where appropriate to improve adhesion. Always ensure the substrate is dry before painting. For lower LRV reds like PMS 7607 C, proper prep helps achieve consistent coverage, as these colors may require extra coats. Testing a small spot before full application is recommended to confirm appearance and coverage.

Can Pantone PMS 7607 C be directly cross-referenced to colors from other paint brands?

Pantone PMS 7607 C is a unique standardized color reference and does not have a direct, guaranteed match in other paint brand collections. Because each paint manufacturer creates its own palette and naming system, cross-references are often close but rarely exact, especially for nuanced or saturated Pantone colors. If matching to PMS 7607 C is critical for your branding or display, order specifically by the Pantone PMS code rather than a near-equivalent from another brand.

When is ordering a standard Pantone PMS 7607 C paint match suitable for my project?

Ordering a standard Pantone PMS 7607 C paint match is appropriate for projects where consistent, recognizable brand color is the main objective. Common uses include displays, signage, exhibit elements, and prototypes where alignment with the Pantone standard is visually important. If your project prioritizes visual brand accuracy over restoring specific coated surfaces, choosing a standard PMS 7607 C color match is typically the correct approach. For critical or high-profile installations, physical samples under actual lighting may still be recommended prior to large orders.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7607 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 7607 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 7607 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
